An absolute meaningless game like this one has to be a chore. A team that was out of playoff contention in July can still getup for a game against a contender (unless you are the Boston Red Sox) just to piss on someone's barbeque. But two eliminated teams playing each other, yawn. I'm sure players have individual goals, "If I can get x amount of hits in the last six game, I can get my average up to .xxx.". but there had to be a voice saying "It would make things go a lot quicker to strike out on three straight."
I was watching the A's-Mariners game a few days ago and it looked like there was 47 people in the stands. That must be fun. One of the things MLB has to do in the offseason is fix this mess in Oakland. Set a deadline "If ground isn't broken on a new stadium by a certain date, then it's Viva Las Vegas for the Athletics" or something to that effect. Enough is enough Be sure to watch Albert and Yadi's final regular season home game today. 3 RBI behind former BoSox Babe Ruth. What a farewell to the Busch Stadium crowd!

And Babe Ruth no longer sits alone in the second spot for all-time Runs Batted In. Also, 702 Homeruns! Miguel Cabrera, second in active HR, needs 195 to tie.He has three days to do it.

I wonder what will hurt worse for Mets fans. This collapse or seeing DeGrom pitching for Atlanta next season?

Just a killer weekend. Total no show performance for 3 straight games. Completely non-competitive.

Koufax vs. Kershaw Not bad, huh? Of course, you have to wonder how Koufax might've done with modern load management.

Granted, it's coming fresh off the heels off an embarrassing weekend, but I don't have a ton of confidence in the Mets right now either with they way they're playing. Their offense is abysmal and Yu Darvish has killed the Mets. I have tickets to every game but can't make Saturday night. We'll see...

So strange to see all big 3 Mets starters got beaten badly in a row. Probably first time this year, and bad timing. Hope for a regroup. Padres is very beatable. Their pitchers are very inconsistent. One day Koufax, another day Anthony Young. The Mets 3 got to do much better than in the Braves series.

One day Koufax, another day Anthony Young. The Mets 3 got to do much better than in the Braves series. The pitchers certainly didn't pitch the way they should, but the offense is the culprit here. Constant runners on base, and just no ability to get the big hit and drive guys in. It should have been 6-1 in the 3rd last night. All year long, they have worked the count and hit line drives; all of that went out this window this weekend (and really, it has been that way all month). Just one win this weekend completely flip the script. It's true, the Braves are better, nobody contests that, but the Mets blew this division by not beating up on the Pirates, Cubs, Nationals and As in September when they had the chance. No choice now but to suck it up and prepare for this weekend. They lost and they looked like shit in doing so. Now it's time to respond, to get up off the mat and win some games.

Yes, they had an easy stretch for about 2 weeks, and they did almost nada. The swept by the Cubs was brutal and came back to haunt them.

In 1966, his final season when his arm was falling off, the Dodgers had Koufax throw 212 pitches in a single game. An exhibition game. While I do believe that modern pitchers are somewhat mollycoddled, that is just ridiculous. Imagine the Mets doing that to Jacob deGrom.

'Twas an emotional day yesterday in Busch. Albert drove in three to tie the Babe in RBIs, homering in his final regular season AB...he always did have a flair for the dramatic big moments. Would have been great to see Yadi mow down the two steal attempts (though he did get that second guy, don't know what replay the umps were watching). And Waino couldn't muster one more gem, leaving after 4 2/3 in what is likely his last regular season game, even though he hasn't announced it yet. When all three left the game together, there were some tears shed in the crowd. Glad I was able to be there, made sweeter because it will surely be the last time my entire family will be able to do it.
