Not being able to overturn turnover calls when an obvious flag needed to be thrown (like attempting to rip a mans head off by face masking him and dragging him to the ground resulting in the player being injured as well - was attempted homicide) Not overturning ridiculous erroneous roughing the passer and personal foul calls on QBs who aren't allowed to be breathed on essentially ending a game Worst Officiated Game in the history of professional sports But hey. I ain't that guy who blames the refs. Sometimes a loss is a good loss. Like when 'Nova dropped a game a few years back heading in the dance and went on to win the Championship Allows you to reset, focus and get back to business - and the business at hand is us winning the Super Bowl ** Edit - and how about that unnecessary roughness call on Ceej late in the game extending a Washington drive. Receiver was still in bounds and Ceej was leading with the shouler not the helmet - certainly not attempted targeting either. Disgraceful. Real shame when an undefeated season is lost because of the refs

I just posted this in another thread, but it belongs here.
Mindless analytics masquerading as legitimate information and hype at the same time. Every highlight these days is punctuated with, "Per stat site, so and so is the first player ever to have 20-5-5 and two blocks on the second night of a back to back on a Tuesday." And? How is that insightful at all? Are people fooled by this nonsense analytics hype? Statistical anomalies do not make history. Besides the fact that the NBA is more wide open than it's ever been, so stats are completely skewed now. If a team even 15 years ago attempted as many threes as the average team does now, people would think the coach was insane. "This guy (who at best will probably finish his career with two all-star selections) is THE FIRST PLAYER IN HISTORY TO _________." Well, I guess we've found the goat, folks. First guy ever to do something like that.
My favorite example of this is in football, when they have those wild analytics after the fact. "There was only a 19% chance of him catching that ball." It already happened. It 100% happened, and we can see it was a tough catch. These numbers are meaningless. It's not like you can incorporate that into your game plan in a way different from what you're already doing. "It's probably a bad idea to throw into double coverage. And if that doesn't convince you, do the math. There's only a 12% chance it results in a completion." "Well, since you put it that way, coach..."

No. Bitch coaches blaming every narrow loss on referees and their fans buying into it is ruining the NRL. The actual standard of play is better than it's ever been.

Some pretty middle of the road guys currently having all time franchise records due to playing in a pass happy era.

What a ref blamer you are. Maybe if the Iggles receivers didn't fumble every ball away, especially when Hurts makes a clutch game winning throw, they'd have won. And the roughing call was the right call. Frustrating, but a dumb defensive mistake. But personal fouls (along with all calls) should be reviewable. Earlier in the season a Giants tight end got his eye ball clawed out and there was no penalty called. Absurd.

We definitely weren't on our 'A' Game last night Jonathan Gannon has been Public Enemy #1 around here for quite sometime. He's stubborn. He doesn't want to get beat with a big play/the long ball. So he plays these quasi/hybrid zone/prevent packages that allows for a QB to pick you apart which is what happened last night. Washington was like 12-16 at one point on 3rd Downs and Gannon refused to switch it up - blitzing was non-existent and he was actually dropping Robert Quinn back on coverage. Plus we did not run the ball at all until the 2nd Half - Nicky forgets sometimes what changed our season around last year We'll be fine though - I expect a fun ending to the season in the NFC Beast

That might actually be a tougher game than expected Jeff Saturday is the ultimate underdog and that team is now a feel good story around the NFL..... He's got em believin' - and that's what it's all about - Any Given Sunday

90% of the time I would agree with this but there are times when you do see some pretty bad calls/no calls.
Phantom face mask from last night was a good example.
I don't expect refs to be perfect, they will miss calls but if you have replay technology, you might as well use it to it's fullest potential.
I think we need to do this in baseball too. At this point, there is absolutely no reason to let home plate umpires make balls/strike calls any longer. Trackers can make the call, but that doesn't mean we need to do away with plate umps, they would still be needed.

Completely agree The missed face mask call against us completely changed the game Throwing a flag on CJ for unnecessary roughness against us completely changed the game Throwing a flag on Grahamy for unnecessary roughness against us completely changed the game But hey - I'm not blaming the refs - I'm above that sort of behavior

I have seen this kind of thing in soccer coverage as well. "This is only the third time a 36-year old player with a name starting with a 'T' scores a goal in the 26th minute of a match in the month of April"(*). Who could possibly find that piece of information relevant?
(*)Exaggerating for effect, but not by all that much.

I didn't mind the roughing call at the end of the game. I think it was the right call, sure, it had a pretty big impact on the outcome of the game but that lineman had plenty of time to change his direction and avoid a big collusion with the QB.
The thing is, roughing the QB has been under a microscope for the last 4 or 5 season, every player should know that the refs are just aching to throw a flag on this. There really is no excuse for getting a QB roughing call in today's NFL. The way to avoid it is pretty easy, don't get rough with QB's. pretty simple... especially one that gave up on the play and sitting there on one knee. Hitting people out of bounds is another one that should never happen but players still do it. I have no sympathy for players that get called for hitting out of bounds.
Now, there are times when it's a rather ticky-tacky call and that can be left up to replay, that's if they decide to extend replay technology to cover every penalty/possible penalty.

Also, don't complain about a roughing call if you're LB is gonna slam into a QB who gave himself up an hour ago. Take some accountability, fan!

lol, I could have done without that image, frogs.
Look how much time he has to shift away from the QB. I swear, it's the DLs fault and no one else.
Not sure if this video will work, it's a facebook link... but here goes...
