These are actually truly great and innovative bands (despite their funny names they are the best of the best).
Blancmange (world music) & Kajagoogoo (avant-garde).
Acknowledge them!!

You would love the musical connoisseurs who call themselves Blancmange, and rightly so.

There's an argument that the groups that emerged after the immediate punk era in BritaIan were extremely talented - a la Blancmange, Kajagoogoo (Art Nouveau), Human League & Heaven 17, Depeche Mode al. etc. - so ...

I'm told today this is seen as a cast-iron, surefire, banger classic from the original new synth wave.

Tell me about it, and I'm born and raised in England. These two great British bands are so totally awesome and adventurous in their early years (where you been my life?). The psych gurus at RHINO Records love them, I now hear./

Blancmange, you could possibly say with a straight face, but Kajagoogoo? Come on, this one's a wind up? No? That said, Nick Beggs is a very respected player of the Chapman Stick in prog rock circles, these days.

I liked Blancmange. Kajagoogoo, not so much.
Found this unusual video on youtube that seems to place them together ...
I did read that both bands held some tenuous connection (at best) to Gang Of Four (Dave Allen played bass on a Blancmange track?) ... but if that's true, did glamorous magicians's assistant Debbie McGee really play triangle on another Blancmange track as has been alleged online?!?
'22339' (is it really a prison number?) - Blancmange
Kajagoogoo - 'Ooh To Be Aaah' (with Limahl on bricks!?!)
