They have changed the format . The name entries are no longer divided by film, tv, self etc. There is a lot more space devoted to pop up ads . The last time they did this I was able to select the old format. I don’t see that choice now. Uggghhh

I, too, still get a division. I checked Robert Redford, at random, because he's worn so many hats. Actor, Producer, Director are separated. Film/TV have always been listed together.

On m’y view they were separated. Actor Film, actor TV, director film, director tv , etc. Then listed by date. It’s also a little harder to see the awards.

“Progress” doesn’t always sit well with us oldies. Life was much simpler when we just had this:

“Progress” doesn’t always sit well with us oldies. Life was much simpler when we just had this: Wow - thanks jervistetch - that version predates my advent on the old board (2005/6 from memory). I still miss the boards related to individual films/performers/etc - they were great for sourcing copies of wanted movies. Can't say I have noticed recent changes on imdb and I still use a lot to remind myself what is in the TO WATCH pile (mostly Mp4 downloads these days)

I hate it and I still use IMDb every day for research purposes. Well there is no other website like it for movies and tv so it is what it is. My biggest complaint is always extra clicks for information that used to be there with no clicks at all. Just scroll down. blogspot did the same thing two summers ago with a blog editor "upgrade." Things that you used to be able to add by cut and paste only now had four, five, six, extra clicks.

I had this problem awhile ago when I accidentally selected the option to view the new format (what a nightmare that was!!). Eventually, with their help, I got it returned to the old format (I don't even remember how). So you might try reaching out to them directly. It took me a long time to get it straightened out, but eventually we did. Good luck. And shame on them for making such a mess of a valuable resource!! Same thing happened to me. It mysteriously changed back after an excruciating couple of weeks. Hope to never see it again.

I switched to Letterboxd a couple of years ago. Not as comprehensive as IMDb and you still get a lot of ads if you don't have the paid version ($25 pa), but I much prefer the format, layout, and navigation.

Geez people - its for free, you should be donating $ to it What does $$$$ have to do with it ? For people who actually USE it, especially on a daily basis, the changes they have made have negated its purpose. Pointless removal of the character cross-references is a prime example of a foolish corporate decision ! Leaving what was already there and not adding new ones would have been at least "something" for users of the site. The beauty of IMDb as it was, is it being such an excellent source of information with an easy to navigate interface ... wiki does not compare !

No one hates IMDb more than I do, as I was banned and my entire posting history erased (essentially, made an Orwellian unposter) for protesting political propaganda on the CFBDitto

Clearly, like Spidey, and possibly Mike, you clicked on something you shouldn't have. I saw it too, but I avoided it clicking on it. PS. Do you not have an Adblocker?

I got the old format back! I’m not sure how it happened. I think it was that I reset the appearence then erased the history and signed in again.
I am very glad to have the old format back. My eyes are not what they were. It’s often hard for me to manage busy visuals.
Thanks for all the wise advice. I appreciate your help
