61 home runs in a season set in 1961.
McGwire, Sosa and Bonds all cheated.
Roger Maris holds the single season home run record. The real single season record.

...you are clearly obsessed with Roger Maris and his faux record...The Babe hit 60 in 8 less games...deal with it...and why don't you take into account the Negro Leagues records???

Like it or not, Bonds/Sosa/McGwire all have more, is it fair, no. Sadly, MLB aint changing a dang thing. All we can do is hope someone can beat them....but man will it be tough as balls.
(OT on a silly fun note, where did tough as balls come from? I mean, balls arent very tough, ever been kicked in them!? $*** sucks!)

Just putting it out there - Maris wasn't juicing in 1961 ? I mean if McGwire/Sosa and Bonds have legally done it, is there a chance Maris had access to primitive performance enhancement in that time frame ?

Because Maris didn't surpass Ruth until after game 154, he had an asterisk on his record until Major League Baseball decided to remove it in 1991 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his record. Tragically, however, Maris died in 1985 and thus did not live to see his achievement legitimized.
