what was wrong with season 1, iyo? There were certainly good parts about the series; however, I don't think the showrunner understood the material. Also, the lead played Danny as too petulant and overly naive. The Iron Fist should be able to summon calm and complete Zen-like mastery over himself at moment's notice. I was also not a fan of this particular faction of the Hand. It seemed incongruent with previous iterations (in any media). SaveSaveSaveSave

It could certainly do with a much more definitive presentation.
I wouldn't say do-over so much as just a major step up to the next ten levels. It just really felt like there needed to be more going on, and I would also say the villains they put in were very low key. I love Harold actually, but that would have been more like Nuke being the main villain in Jessica Jones. He was a secondary villain in that series, and Iron Fist would have probably been awesome if Harold was just like he was but there was a much greater villain to deal with.
And the Hand group in this one wasn't the same either. I get that the Hand would have a recruitment school, but when you've already shown us the major league level of the Hand, showing us the training class, while cool, doesn't represent a credible threat.
I would also add that Danny should be a naïve character. It completely makes sense. The man knows nothing of the modern world, and only thinks of it how a child thinks of it. But there weren't very many moments where that felt like it paid off. I think there is a version of season 1 where him being so naïve would have been a very fun character trait but they never really got there. Instead there were moments where it was occasionally annoying.
All in all the season was passable. It works, but only just barely, and I agree that a strong season 2 is not only needed, but might make it all worth while.

I don't know that I agree with the assessment that Danny should have or would have been naïve. If you look at his counterpart, Davos (aka The Steel Serpent), the assumption about Danny's naivety doesn't bare out. Davos, presumably also spent the majority (if not all) of his life in K'un-Lun and yet he seems far more decisive and in possession of the greater will. I understand Danny being unsophisticated but, completely childlike appeared to be a bit of a stretch. He's far too easily manipulated (repeatedly) throughout the series. I appreciate that Davos didn't have Danny's distractions, however, I still think their training should have yielded a far more confident and less easily swayed warrior. SaveSave

SaveSaveWell Davos was decisive when it came to fighting and battle strategy, but so was Danny. How would Davos have done if he was asked to make major corporate decisions? Also Davos didn't have major childhood trauma that we know of, and anybody who watches their parents die at a very young age is likely to have some issues. It's the kind of thing that might render you childlike as a young adult, but Danny still has time to mature.
But I agree that yes, I would like to get to the mature Danny sooner, rather than later, and yes it wasn't the most fun version possible, so I definitely know what you mean. I also agree to hoping that this wasn't the best Iron Fist and season 2 will blow it out of the water.
