Robert Carradine (March 24, 1954, Hollywood, California, U.S.)
'My Father's Gun' - Elton John
With Kay Lenz, (possibly) Colleen Camp, Dirk Benedict, and Steve Railsback celebrating 50 years in film, it's only fitting that I acknowledge one man close to my heart, a man who's seen it all. To some, he's gifted character actor Robert Carradine ...
"I always had a passion to be a race car driver, and that’s what I thought I was going to do, and at some penultimate moment … I think I was sitting with my brother David when The Cowboys was being cast, and they were interested in David as the bad guy, and he didn’t want to be the guy that shot John Wayne in the back. But he said, ”You know, it is called The Cowboys, and they’re meeting all these young guys. Why don’t you go in?” I said, ”Well, I’m not really that into it.” And he said, ”Well, you’ve got everything to gain and nothing to lose.” So I went in and met Mark Rydell, and I was able to convey pretty accurately a nervous 17-year-old in front of John Wayne. [Laughs.] That was really the first scene: they let you meet the cowboys. So there wasn’t exactly a lot of acting going on at that exact moment. So, anyway, the heavens parted and I got that job."
- Robert Carradine, Pop Dose
'Dear Darling' - Mary Margaret O'Hara
... to others, he's a drive-in legend ... and the undisputed King of the Nerds! ...
Nerds!??
'Nurds' - The Roches

Used to see him on TV a lot.
Do you like Jeff Kanew's 'Revenge Of The Nerds' (1984)? Joe Roth directed the sequel 'Revenge Of The Nerds II : Nerds In Paradise' (1987).
'Revenge Of The Nerds III : The Next Generation' (1992) and 'Revenge Of The Nerds IV : Nerds In Love' (1994) were made for television.

Please do see 'Revenge Of The Nerds'. I'm not keen on the sequels but the original's awesome.

The extras on The Big Red One has a funny story about Lee Marvin. The three young stars were in the back of a car going to the set, with a driver, and waiting on Lee Marvin. In the back is Robert Carradine, Mark Hamill, and somebody else. Marvin finally shows up, gets in the car, the leave for the set, and after a while, without turning around, Marvin goes, "Which one of you is Carradine?" Robert Carradine pipes up from the back, "I am." Lee Marvin says, "Fuck you, Carradine."

Lee Marvin once took a ride with Keith Carradine for the physically challenging location filming of Robert Aldrich's 'Emperor Of The North' (1973) ...
... Ernest Borgnine grinds Lee Marvin down on the railroad ...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_One_with_a_Bullet_(film)I love The Long Riders with all the Carradines but he also made a buddy cop movie with Billy Dee Williams. Directed by Jack Smight. Not exactly great but pretty fun. I was big on unknown buddy cop movies for a while. Loose Cannons, etc.

One of my favorites. That did look like a rough shoot. I have heard more than once that Borgnine was a good guy and just looked like a movie star in public.

I like the crime movie 'Number One With A Bullet'. Also, 'Buy And Cell' with Malcolm McDowell I remember as a good one.

I think so. Ernest Borgnine became a key source of inspiration behind the real life family tractor men of slice-of-life pictures like Joe Camp III's 'Abilene' (1999) and David Lynch's storied 'The Straight Story' (1999).

Sorry but I hadn't seen any of those movies. Robert Carradine is hilarious in REVENGE OF THE NERDS. His nerdy, nasal bray of a laugh is one of the highlights of the picture.

I think David Carradine would have enjoyed this performance. Wish he was here with his guitar but I do believe he's in a better place, one day he'll see his brothers again.
