I ask because, when choosing their favorites, people tend to mention soundtracks with the original versions. Not that it's bad for movies to do that. I just thought this method deserved more exposure.

Not sure I can think of one. I like the soundtrack to 'Clueless' (1995) which I think had a handful of covers, but that's as close as I can get off the top of my head.

There are a few movie soundtracks with all Beatles covers. I Am Sam, Across the Universe, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, maybe others, but I only like a few songs.
