I disagree with him, but he's entitled to his opinion of course. www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tarantino-calls-once-upon-time-235146484.html“For years people used to ask me stuff like that,” Tarantino said about being asked to pick his best movie. “And I would say something like, ‘Oh, they’re all my children.’ I really do think ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is my best movie.”

With the possible exception of Death Proof, he hasn’t made a bad movie. I think Inglourious Basterds is his greatest work.

He isn't wrong about the analogy of it being like picking your children, though I am surprised he went with that one. I think some of his others were much more influential and better-made.

It is his self-proclaimed opus, as he's stated his next won't be nearly as ambitious even if it is his final film project.
I think he's merely in love with Once Upon a Time's subject matter, casting, locations, etc. It's by far his most accessible movie, & maybe that mainstream appeal is why it's easy for him to adore.
I dunno... he'll never be as in love with the likes of Pulp Fiction as we the audience were.

Inglourious Basterds towers above it in my mind, but it’s a great movie. Perhaps even a little unfairly judged out of the gate.

Perhaps. It’s between OUATIH and Jackie Brown imo.

All of his movies are great. I think there is a strong argument to be made for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" being his best. It is certainly one of my favorites along with "Kill Bill" and 'Inglorious Basterds".

It's too long but I think he's right.

Tarantino seems definite that his next movie will be his last. www.yahoo.com/entertainment/quentin-tarantino-confirms-next-movie-143751981.html"I've been doing it for a long time; I've been doing it for 30 years. And it's time to wrap up the show," said Tarantino, 59. "I'm an entertainer. I want to leave you wanting more." "I don't want to become this old man who's out of touch when, already, I'm feeling a bit like an old man out of touch when it comes to the current movies that are out right now."

Hell, I've felt that way since I was 17.

It’s probably my favorite although IB is a close second. Jackie Brown is up there too. I know people hate on DP but Kurt Russell was great in it. The extended diner dialogue sequence was a yawn though.

I don't feel like there's any drop-off with QT. The last decade produced a pair of great westerns in 'Django Unchaine'd' (2012) and 'The Hateful Eight' (2015) which is practically unheard of in today's cinema. Then he comes out with the crime epic 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' (2019) and helps get us all through a pandemic with spirits rising. He must have plenty left in the tank but I respect he's in to writing now.

Speaking of which, has anyone read his new book on movies? I’m thinking about buying it. I liked the novelization of Once Upon A Time…

Other than the "Spahn Ranch" scene, it left me flat. Nice soundtrack

I’ll believe it when it happens. I’m still waiting on that 30 page glowing review of Superman Returns or whatever that he said he’d release.
