Episode 1 was very good. Laid out a ton of groundwork for the story.

episode 3 is being hailed as masterpiece 10/10 , Emmy for Nick Offerman See, this is just insane. The acting in the game is better. A lot better. People saying this is better than the game or the best television they have ever seen are out of their minds. Is this the first show they've ever seen? This show is ok and people are acting like this it invented the medium of television.
These characters are nothing like the game and Bill is the latest example of that. The Bill portion of the game is so intense. They go through Hell to get a truck. You run and fight for your life. You feel legitimate fear and anxiety while playing through it. And Bill hates them for it. He is an asshole in the game. Mean, miserable, and not totally trustworthy. Not seeing the hell they went through to get a truck deprived the audience of some scary shit. All that tension and adrenaline you felt in the game? Gone. That whole part of the game is just erased. What do we get in the show? A romance novel. Almost no tension or fear. This us supposed to be horror.
He saves their lives only to show his paranoia and mistrust seconds later:
And Pedro's Joel is too subdued. Mando is waaay to calm to be Joel. Joel is supposed a machine, not a sleep aid.

Agree with all of this. And while I thought the last episode was way too slow, they could’ve had their cake and ate it too by keeping their romance but literally just having Bill not take the pills too. Then they can use him for what was one of the best parts of the game - going through the city with Bill. I don’t really know what possessed them to put this strange romance episode in, especially with it deviating so far from the game. It’s not like they were just being faithful to the source material. One good thing I can say is that it at least sets the tone that they’re not afraid to shake things up. Keeps us on our toes a bit more if we’ve played the game already.

I am in disbelief how much people are overstating this episode and show. This is not an all-timer and people have labeled it such after 1 episode.
Not enough is happening. The museum scene is great, but not enough. The game is fucking terrifying. And when things happen? It's pure chaos. Sometimes you think you're going to use stealth or your guns for a ranged attack and hell breaks lose and you end up in a hand-to-hand braw (or vice versa). This show captures a tenth of that. The Bill stuff was a prime example. So much was lost because of the changes. Bill isn't even the same character.
Tess and Joel aren't either, but she's gone, thankfully. She was awful imo.
I am shocked how bland Mando is.
This is emotional. Neither of the actors showed this kind of range:

Pascal wouldn’t have been my first choice for Joel. Or even on the short list. He’s not been bad imo, but someone else should be playing him. One thing I noticed while watching is how the direction of the episodes gets better as it goes, but none of them are very impressive. Mazin hasn’t directed anything other than two awful comedies from the early 2000s, and it showed in that first episode. The sets and locations are obviously high-quality, but we can’t tell because the camera is always so close and handheld. It gets slightly better in the second, and slightly better again in the third, so I’m hoping they can figure it out in the long run. I’ll be curious how much they deviate going forward. Especially in the second season when they start adapting the second game. I could see them going pretty different.

This version of him is a cardboard cutout. Troy Baker showed so much more range.

episode 3 is being hailed as masterpiece 10/10 , Emmy for Nick Offerman Dunno about masterpiece but it's a good episode. My only issue with the episode is that Nick Offerman was great and I would've liked to see more of him on the show so I'm not sure that the decision of killing him was the right one.

At first I found it puzzling that a strictly linear story suddenly launched into a spin-off, but when they got to the letter scene it made perfect sense.

Sure, but doesn't mean that this kind of thing doesn't happen.

Sure, but doesn't mean that this kind of thing doesn't happen. I'm sure it does, but why is it just assumed that's what is happening? The writers of this article (and I've seen others on other sites) dismiss all criticism out of the gate:
Trolls exist, but that article is disingenuous. People don't like it? No, can't be that, it has to be trolling! People are saying the goofiest most over-the-top stuff about this show (below) but criticism is just being labeled "hating" and "trolling" off the bat.

I was listening to one critic who talked about this: maybe people just didn't like it? Then he delved into the actual viewer reviews. Unsurprisingly, most of them had nothing to do with the quality of the episode and everything to do with "SJWs and the Gay Mafia are trying to grow muh kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Left is OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!"

Why do 10/10 scores count, but 1/10s don't?

I’ve only played about an hour of the game but I am really digging the show. Elle came out of the gate a little awkward for me but by ep 3 I think she’s great. Joel is kind of a strong silent type which I don’t hate in side characters but I’m not fond of in a main character so I’m hopeful that he opens up a bit more.
I thought the stuff with Bill and Frank was great.
