It’s difficult for me to think of theaters as too expensive when EVERYTHING is too expensive now. I shake my head every time I get some take out now. 9 bucks for a matinee seat feels kind of reasonable next to a 25$ dinner and everything else I have to pay for. I also probably value that experience more than most. I work from home and watch a lot of tv at home. So it’s kind of nice to get out and watch something on a big public screen. I also only watch about 5 movies a year in the theater so it’s kind of a treat, and far less than I’d spend on a streeeeamer per year I'm a sucker for movies (full disclosure, I have Disney+, Netflix, Apple tv and Prime subscriptions), and I've always enjoyed the theater experience. I have a friggin' platinum membership at Cinemark. But the industry can't survive on saps like me alone. As Cat said, the studios need to slow down their output so their output actually feels like an event. That's what gets people to watch, at home or at the theater. But again, streamers are just never going to get return on their investment with astronomical production budgets. Ironically it's streamers that are putting theaters out of business, yet the streamers seem to be following the same business model. It can't work the same way with home viewership, it just can't.

Seeing Violent Night tomorrow.
