I don't hate it, but it's certainly not something I look forward to watching during the week. I think its greatest problem is the same one that Thor: Love and Thunder suffered from -- the complete inability to let even a minute of screentime go by without some goofy joke. Every damn scene, every damn conversation has to be loaded with quips and jokes. It gets tiring.

Anyone else check this out? I liked the first two episodes. Glad to have another show on Wednesdays after the void left by Andor.... Dude, I'm on a Discord server dedicated entirely to this show, that's how much I love it.

I never expected to be disappointed in this show. The trailer looked good. I was all-in om this show, but I'm very disappointed. I've laughed. I won't say I haven't. But overall, the style of the humor is not working.
The style and tone isn't working overall. Hannah Wadding's character (and her sidekick) looked out of place. They look like people in modern times cosplaying as prospectors. Not real prospectors, but people impersonating prospectors. It's a multilayered issue with her character and partner alone. They felt out of place.
Davis is not good either. His performance is bad and so is what they're doing with the character. It's like he forgot how to play the character and they've written him as an asshole and a failure. They implied he tried to kidnap Elora at one point. Willow wouldn't do that. Christ, Sorsha mocked him to his face.
And if I have to hear that cheeseball villain hiss “the child has revealed herself” one more time, I'm going to chuck my remote. He's corny an not intimidating either, which is reinforced by the fact his minions are dispatched rather easily. Everyone Ballatine's crew has fought got the upper hand on them. The kids, Hannah Waddington with an axe… come on. Villains need to be intimidating!
Boorman is a dork. The kids are annoying. Willow is a dick. Nothing works on this show.

I’ll probably get caught up but I skipped the last two weeks and haven’t missed it. That’s a bad sign for a show. I come in as someone with built in fandom. I adored the Willow movie as a kid. I should be a ringer for singing this shows praises but more and more it just feels like this show wasn’t made for me.

I have always loved the movie and was really excited for this show, but the quality is siiiii bad.
It should be made for people like us and our kids, but instead we got a CW show.

Yeah ep3 was definitely too dark. Game of Thrones and Wheel of Time had that issue too. Apart from that I enjoyed the episode. A couple of observations though: - I feel Willow's friend should really have been Meegosh. Unfortunately the actor passed away some time ago so they have invented this new character. He doesn't really fit with what we saw in the movie with Willow having only Meegosh and, to a lesser extent, Vohnkar on his side. If this guy is meant to be his best friend for decades, where the heck was he before? - This reflects more my take on the movie than a flaw as such, but I never really felt like Elora Danan had any special ability. Bavmorda was so obsessed with the idea of her destroying her that she set up a ritual to banish Elora, which thanks to Willow, backfired and banished her instead. It was a nice bit of irony that Elora would have been no threat to her had she not been so afraid she'd be a threat to her. But now it turns out Elora does have magical powers so perhaps she would have been a threat after all so Bavmorda wasn't so foolish I guess. I suppose it's a perfectly legitimate interpretation of the movie, it just feels less interesting to me. The actor who played Meegosh killed himself, unfortunately. Vonkar appears to be retired.

The actor who played Meegosh killed himself, unfortunately. Oh I knew he passed away but didn't realise that. How sad. I can understand the producers not wanting to recast his character in that case.

Yeah, very sad. I think some people with dwarfism really struggle with it, particularly men. Verne Troyer pretty much drank himself to death. Tatoo (da plan, da plane) killed himself too.
I agree that's probably why they didn't recast him.
The guy they have playing his new bff could have pulled off Vohnkar with a different haircut and facial hair.

I really dug how last episode had an Easter Egg that referenced one of the old school teasers for the original movie....

did this end? is it worth watching and should i rewatch the movie first ? The season is over and I can't say I'd recommend watching it actually. Not unless youre like 12 and are used to mediocre television shows you'd find on disney or nickelodeon. I guess that's who the show was made for because it wasn't us 30-40 somethings who grew up loving the movie.

I was more thinking of acting and writing. It feels geared directly at a Gen Z audience. I didn't realize how much that didn't appeal to me until I sat through several episodes of it. It's weird for me to think that I can watch a movie from the 1930s and find it relatable and enjoyable but I can't watch a show made for todays youth and not roll my eyes. But I will say this...give it an episode. I do think the things that annoyed me about it were consistent from the start. It was never misleading in that regard.

Things to be aware of: it does get a little CW. It also goes the "Knight's Tale" mode using contemporary music in some parts. That was offputting at first, but I ultimately enjoyed it. It's not perfect but I hope it goes for the full planned three seasons.

"Ok boys, who brought butter?"
Jesus, this just gets worse and worse. This show has completely missed the mark.
