Tar - I also watched it. Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio - I enjoyed it, especially the look of it. The songs were the weak point for me as well, but I didnt dislike them. 7/10 First Time Viewings: Causeway (2022, Lila Neugebauer) - 7/10The Banshees of Inisherin (2022, Martin McDonagh) - 9/10The Fabelmans (2022, Steven Spielberg) - 8/10To Leslie (2022, Michael Morris) - 7/10Spirit Untamed (2021, Elaine Bogan) - 5/10The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021, Tom McGrath) - 6.5/10The Bad Guys (2022, Pierre Perifel) - 6/10Tár (2022, Todd Field) - 7/10Repeat Viewings: Titanic (1997, James Cameron) - 9/10Thoroughbreds (2017, Cory Finley) - 8.5/10Munich (2005, Steven Spielberg) - 8.5/10Avatar (2009, James Cameron) - 7.5/10The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004, Wes Anderson) - 7.5/10The Adventures of Tintin (2011, Steven Spielberg) - 7/10Movie Awards: BEST FILM: TitanicBEST ACTOR: Colin Farrell - The Banshees of InisherinBEST ACTRESS: Andrea Riseborough - To LeslieBEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Brendan Gleeson - The Banshees of InisherinBEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Kerry Condon - The Banshees of InisherinBEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Russell Carpenter - TitanicBEST SCORE: James Horner - TitanicBEST SCRIPT: Martin McDonagh - The Banshees of InisherinBEST DIRECTOR: James Cameron - TitanicThe Bad Guys (2022, Pierre Perifel) - I don't know why, especially as everyone else seems to be more "meh" about it, but I really enjoyed this one. I found it a fun take on heist films and felt like a great way to introduce kids to the concept. I also found it surprisingly funny. 8/10 Titanic (1997, James Cameron) - It's pretty good, but even when it was in theaters I didn't get the love for this. I feel that way about most Cameron films honestly. All are well made, but there's something about his films that always keeps me at a distance. 7/10 Avatar (2009, James Cameron) - I don't even like South Park, but it had a better version of the movie than the actual movie did. 5/10 The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004, Wes Anderson) - This was the first Wes Anderson film I saw. I have a fondness for it even if it's not his best. Some very funny scenes though. I particularly like the Jeff Goldblum poker scene. 8/10

Didnt see either of yours. Mine: Black Widow (2021) - 6/10
Good Marvel film. not the best though. The Punisher (2004) - 7/10
Solid action film. Curse of Chucky (2013) - 7/10
Fun and freaky Chucky film. Smile (2022) - 4/10
Disappointing horror film. Detective Knight Redemption (2022) - 5/10
With all the bad films Bruce Willis had done in the past few years, this one is not good but not as bad as those other ones. Savage Salvation (2022) - 4/10
New Robert De Niro film is just a average thriller. Sorry to say none of yours. Sorry to hear Smile disappointed you, I was wanting to see it.

First Time Viewing The Black Hole (1979; Gary Nelson) - An atypical science-fiction movie from Disney, mockingly referred to by some as the studio's version of "Alien", when in fact it was intended more as their own Take on Star Wars. It does have its moments, but by pandering to kids with things like cutesy robots and featuring a cast on autopilot (with the possible exception of Maximilan Schell's villain) it doesn't quite fulfill its potential. 6/10 Dune (2021; Denis Villeneuve) - A bombastic visual experience that just falls a bit short when it comes to character and plot. 7.5/10 Fall (2022; Scott Mann) - Two extreme climbers find themselves stuck at the top of a high radio tower. With a 103 minute run-time this feels a bit bloated, the characters are paper-thin and there are a few plot holes, but the climbing scenes are effective and in its best moments it does deliver a good rush of adrenaline. 6.5/10 TV The Crimson Rivers - Season 1 (2018) - Based on a popular French thriller, this is a rather dull and formulaic police procedural. 5/10
The Lost World (2001; Stuart Orme) - Solid old-fashioned adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic novel which feels a bit by-the-numbers despite a talented cast (Bob Hoskins, Edward Fox, Matthew Rhys, Peter Falk). 6/10 Repeat Viewing A Licence To Kill (1989; John Glen) - Solid hard-edged Bond movie which tried some interesting new things with the franchise. Arguably not all of it worked, but it's still an underrated film. 7/10 Dune (2021; Denis Villeneuve) - I liked better than you, but agree with your assessment. As a fan of the book though, it does make me happy to see it faithfully adapted (that said, I nostalgically like the Lynch movie). 8/10 A Licence To Kill (1989; John Glen) - I think it is the most underrated of the Bond films and honestly ahead of its time. 8/10

Hello again! Sorry to say none of yours this week. Mine: Matilda (Daniel Mann, 1978) A movie about a boxing kangaroo taking on the mob. I can only imagine that Elliott Gould and Robert Mitchum must have been stoned out of their minds to agree taking roles in this. Truly awful on every level. 1/10 Clerks III (Kevin Smith, 2022) There was a time when I absolutely loved Kevin Smith and watched all of his movies. That time is over. I only checked this one out due to a nostalgic love of Clerks (even though I didn’t even like Clerks 2). The end result of this one is that it is better than most of the newer Smith films that I have seen, but not as good as some of his other works. There are aspects that I enjoyed (Jay and Silent Bob reliving their glory days by selling weed outside even though they can sell it legally and own a shop) but overall, I think I’ve just outgrown Smith’s humor. 5/10 Train to Busan (Sang-ho Yeon, 2016) Very good Korean zombie film. Well directed, suspenseful and makes full use of its train setting. Well worth a watch. 8/10 Piranha (Joe Dante, 1978) Best of the Jaws rip-offs I’ve seen, but make note, that does not mean it is a good movie. It’s at least self-aware in how ridiculous it is. It’s fairly amusing for a time, but honestly wore out its welcome for me after a bit. 5/10 Train to Busan - Yep. 8/10

This one was just set up 4/10 a licence to kill - one of my favorite bond flicks 7.5

Welcome back to another week of the BEST & WORST edition of 'what movies did you see last week?' thread. For those who haven't been part of it before, basically your host (me) posts my weekly movies and you can comment on those and list your movie for the same time frame. I will get back to you on yours and you can talk to other users here about their films. It's a great place to talk about film. FIRST TIME FILM VIEWINGTAR (2022, Todd Field)Good movie, one of the better of the year and it feels like a third Oscar is Cate Blanchett’s for the taking after this powerhouse performance. 7/10Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022, Guillermo del Toro) NetflixThis was very well crafted visually. Characters were a little annoying and I did not like the songs. 5.5/10REPEAT MOVIE VIEWING None this week. FIRST TIME TV VIEWINGSURVIVOR (2022, Season Forty Three)Better than last couple of seasons but they need to make the show longer and harder like the Australian one. Good TVWEEKLY FILM AWARDSBEST FILM: BEST ACTOR: BEST ACTRESS: BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: BEST EDITING: BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: BEST SCORE: BEST SCRIPT: BEST DIRECTOR: 10/10 - Perfection (or as close to it as possible) 09/10 - An Excellent film 08/10 - A VERY Good film 07/10 - A Good film 06/10 - A Solid film 05/10 - An Average film 04/10 - Below Average film 03/10 - A mostly bad film 02/10 - A mostly terrible film 01/10 - Awful through and through 00/10 - Not only awful but offensive too Hi, Dark. Interested in Pinocchio. Yours: TAR 9/10 It's my favourite movie I saw this year, I think. Yeah, I doubt anybody will be able to take away the Oscar from Cate Blanchett. Mine: The Fabelmans 8.5/10 Steven Spielberg movie, about himself growing up in the 60s, and his family. Loved it, it really gets quite personal, you can tell. It's powerful, but it's also a blast, really funny, IMO. The acting is great, loved Michelle Williams and Paul Dano. I really liked Seth Rogen too. There's also David Lynch in it, he plays John Ford, he shows up near the end. I thought he was really great. All the President's Men 9/10 Alan J. Pakula movie about the Watergate, with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman. A classic. it really holds up, it's so absorbing. The cast is really great, especially Robert Redford, IMO. That phone call scene, wow... Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore 8.5/10 It's Martin Scorsese movie, with Ellen Burstyn and Kris Kristofferson. It's about a local singer who had abandoned his career once she got married. When her husband dies, she leaves with her kid and goes on the road, trying to get jobs as a singer again, in local clubs along the way. I loved it, it's really intense and funny too. Loved Ellen Burstyn and Diane Ladd. There's Harvey Keitel in it too, he's great, quite scary. Ghostbusters II 5/10 The sequel. Didn't like it much, it's kind of weak, IMO. The first one is really better.

The first one is really better. Hey billy The Fablemans - I’m half way through it right now. Will report next week All the presidents men - gets better on repeat viewings 7.5-8 Ghostbusters II - I actually think it’s a pretty solid sequel. Still no where bear as good as the first though but as far as comedy sequels go I think it’s pretty good. 7/10
