"The Waltons" was a TV movie "The Homecoming: A Christmas Story" 51 years ago. Patricia Neal made a strong, endearing Olivia Walton & Richard Thomas was a new star as John-Boy. The mother sends her oldest son out Christmas Eve, looking for husband John (Andrew Duggan), who hasn't returned home from his out-of-town job during a snowstorm. Lovely slice of life, based on Earl Hamner Jr.'s childhood.
