Welcome back to another week of the BEST & WORST edition of 'what movies did you see last week?' thread. For those who haven't been part of it before, basically your host (me) posts my weekly movies and you can comment on those and list your movie for the same time frame. I will get back to you on yours and you can talk to other users here about their films. It's a great place to talk about film.
FIRST TIME FILM VIEWING
The Fabelmans (2022, Steven Spielberg) A well made coming of age story based on the directors own life. It feels bloated for what it is but is crafted very well otherwise. 7/10
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022, Martin McDonagh) Colin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson who starred in In Bruges together are reunited with said films director once more. They play two lifelong friends who find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them. This won’t be for everyone but I found it pretty enjoyable. 6.5/10
Kiss the Blood off my Hands (1948, Norman Foster) blu ray Pretty good film noir set in the UK starring Burt Lancaster & Joan Fontaine. Well made, well paced film. 6.5/10
REPEAT MOVIE VIEWING
The Mosquito Coast (1986, Peter Weir) Harrison Ford plays an American inventor who is exhausted by the perceived danger and degradation of modern society and decides to escape with his wife and children to Belize. In the jungle, he tries with mad determination to create a utopian community. The film holds up pretty well with Ford putting in good work as the unlikable lead. 6.5/10
FIRST TIME TV VIEWING
Wednesday (2022, Season One) Netflix Growing up I like The Addams Family tv show but loathed the movie adaptations that followed decades later. With low expectations I checked out this Series focusing on Wednesday Addams. The first episode is pretty bad but it gets better after that and is on the whole watchable enough despite bloated episode lengths and poorly realised creature design and effects. Above average TV

FIRST TIME FILM VIEWINGThe Fabelmans (2022, Steven Spielberg)A well made coming of age story based on the directors own life. It feels bloated for what it is but is crafted very well otherwise. 7/10The Banshees of Inisherin (2022, Martin McDonagh)Colin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson who starred in In Bruges together are reunited with said films director once more. They play two lifelong friends who find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them. This won’t be for everyone but I found it pretty enjoyable. 6.5/10Kiss the Blood off my Hands (1948, Norman Foster) blu rayPretty good film noir set in the UK starring Burt Lancaster & Joan Fontaine. Well made, well paced film. 6.5/10REPEAT MOVIE VIEWING The Mosquito Coast (1986, Peter Weir)Harrison Ford plays an American inventor who is exhausted by the perceived danger and degradation of modern society and decides to escape with his wife and children to Belize. In the jungle, he tries with mad determination to create a utopian community. The film holds up pretty well with Ford putting in good work as the unlikable lead. 6.5/10FIRST TIME TV VIEWINGWednesday (2022, Season One) NetflixGrowing up I like The Addams Family tv show but loathed the movie adaptations that followed decades later. With low expectations I checked out this Series focusing on Wednesday Addams. The first episode is pretty bad but it gets better after that and is on the whole watchable enough despite bloated episode lengths and poorly realised creature design and effects. Above average TVWEEKLY FILM AWARDSBEST FILM: The Fabelmans BEST ACTOR: Harrison Ford - The Mosquito Coast BEST ACTRESS: Joan Fontaine - Kiss the Blood off my Hands BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Seth Rogan - The Fabelmans BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Kerry Condon - The Banshees of Insherin BEST EDITING: Sarah Broshar, Michael Kahn - The Fabelmans BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Janusz Kaminski - The Fabelmans BEST SCORE: John Williams - The Fabelmans BEST SCRIPT: Paul Schrader - The Mosquito Coast BEST DIRECTOR: Steven Spielberg - The Fabelmans 10/10 - Perfection (or as close to it as possible) 09/10 - An Excellent film 08/10 - A VERY Good film 07/10 - A Good film 06/10 - A Solid film 05/10 - An Average film 04/10 - Below Average film 03/10 - A mostly bad film 02/10 - A mostly terrible film 01/10 - Awful through and through 00/10 - Not only awful but offensive Another week where I haven't seen any of your films.
