They must have been a Fluke and Lucky They won six titles with the same QB. But that's the same as one title and a couple playoff appearances, apparently. Yes. Because every team that does not win 6 titles with the same QB is a 'Fluke' and 'Lucky' just like we are.

Or, like the guy you're agreeing with, pretend not to understand the argument of the other person. Me: It's not a fluke because you didn't repeat, it's a fluke because you didn't come close to contending for another title in the next four seasons. Him: Oh I get it, every team that doesn't repeat is a fluke. Gotcha. That's the level of stupidity we're dealing with here. It shouldn't be that hard to quantify consistent success. Do you think going 9-7 and never making it past the divisional round is the same level of success as winning the Super Bowl? That's a rhetorical question (I hope). All of your questions were already answered in the thread. Go to more conference championships, at least be in the conversation for winning a title. That's the bar once you've won, it's not that complicated. And by the way, this is a fluid situation. If the Eagles win the title this year, and start becoming regular players in conf championships at least, that forces us to reevaluate the 2017 season because the organization will have shown it consistently build competitive teams over a long period of time. But at the moment, this is where we are. That’s where you say we are. But some people might say 4 years out is too far to go back and say that Super Bowl 52 wasn’t a fluke. Some people would say that if the Eagles win this Super Bowl with Hurts it’s a different quarterback, so it has no bearing on redefining SB 52. That’s my point about the subjectivity. But thank you for letting me know what your standard would be. Yeah this isn't mathematics. Nobody is saying you can't have an opinion. It only gets ridiculous when the strawman arguments come out. I came into this thread not because I care about how Eagles fans think about their title, I genuinely thought I could explain the difference between the angles being taken on this topic. But I forgot Frogs does this shit. "Oh I get it, [repeats the opposite of what you just said]." It's like arguing with an angry nine year old. For the last time, there's a difference between calling it a fluke run and saying they didn't earn it. They played well all year, everything came together for them, and they outplayed their opponents en route to a Super Bowl title. It's a hell of an accomplishment in a nutshell of one season. But if someone is playing darts and they get a bullseye, two shots halfway toward the center, then miss the target completely in four consecutive throws, what does the bullseye start to look like?

Whatever you say, man. Going 9-7 and losing in the Wild Card or Divisional round is definitely on par with winning a title. Oddly enough, I don't seem to remember you wildly celebrating those seasons, though.

Yes - because a 'fluke run' is going 13-3, beating 2 playoff teams and then the Patriots 41-33 in the Super Bowl A fluke. Giving up 0 sacks, rushing for over 150 yards and Foles throwing for over 370 yards in the Super Bowl A 'fluke run'.

But you know what I meant. It was Brady’s first Super Bowl and the only one where he played for someone who would have started but was injured.

It certainly isn't falling off of the face of the Earth as you've suggested It's not 3-13 and missing the playoffs it's all about getting to the Dance which we did. But I guess Wild Card teams don't win titles - they must be flukey too

Know what I just realized
The 2022 Stanley Cup Champions are 1 point from being out of playoff contention
That certainly doesn't seem 'On Par' with winning titles and competitive at all
They must have been a 'Fluke' and 'Lucky'

Replace the term "fluke" with "one-hit wonder." The Eagles won the Super Bowl, yet come the following postseason, nobody (other than Eagles fans) really believed they'd do it again. Why? Because once again their QB got hurt and everyone knew Foles wasn't going to repeat what he did the previous year. Getting into the playoffs as a #6 seed and beating Matt Nagy's Bears thanks to Parkey's double-doink didn't convince anyone otherwise.
That's kinda the difference between the Eagles and essentially all those other SB winners Frogs (weirdly) listed. Those teams were contenders and built to remain that way for multiple years ahead. Go back and look at every Super Bowl winner from the starting point Frogs began (2005 Steelers). Almost every one of them went back to the Super Bowl or conference championship within a few years while retaining the same core.
After winning it all, the Eagles were never really seen as serious contenders by most fans until literally this year - essentially a new team with a completely new system, new QB, new coach even if they retained a few key names in the trenches. Was that the plan back in 2018? "This success isn't over - we're going to be pretty mediocre for a few years then replace the most important people involved with the team and we'll be right back!"

I love the negative mentality of a lot of sports fans We only won 1 title - we were a 1 hit wonder (fluke)! Instead of celebrating the moment you in turn are a Negative Nelly and glass half empty type of fan - which sadly describes the mentality of some fans - always focusing on the negative - not celebrating the positive

That's as many titles as the Bears, and that's something to be proud of. We're also football fans and we're allowed to compare and contrast that success with that of other winning franchises in recent history (especially when we're posting in a thread bringing up exactly that subject). If you look at the first page of this thread, you can see that I suggested the current Eagles setup is very much sustainable and praised Hurts for his development.

So we haven't been a winning franchise since the Super Bowl? 4 playoff appearances since winning the Super Bowl in 2018 (and an NFC Championship appearance this year)? A team that makes the Dance is not competitive and does not have a shot once making the Super Bowl? 2 teams on the field. You're playing against other elite teams in the playoffs. Oh that's right - we were a 1 hit wonder and a fluke

Oh that's right - we were a 1 hit wonder and a fluke It's like you don't even read the posts you're responding to. We're not talking about this year (I already said they're definite contenders and one of the best teams in the league), we're talking about the 2017 situation and how it looks in the big picture. When you win the title and nobody believed that you'd do it again (because your QB immediately got hurt yet again and your backup never looked like recapturing his prior magic and your coach got fired), then yes it comes off as a one-hit wonder situation - even if you're now contenders again with a completely different QB, coaching staff, system etc.

You seem to view things in Black and Whites and generalize and view things in extremes ( nobody) Water Good! Fire Bad! I must of missed it. Did the experts predict us to miss the playoffs in the years following the Super Bowl? Once you're in the dance you have a decent shot. Have WC teams not won the Super Bowl? I suppose they were flukes, eh? 'Experts.'

It couldn't have anything to do with the turmoil between upper management, the head coach and QB could it? Couldn't have anything to do with Wentz missing the next 2 playoffs could it? Him getting knocked out and our QB was Josh McCown vs. Seattle. Couldn't have anything to do with there's 31 other teams in the NFL could it? Couldn't be once you're in the playoffs you're facing other good teams could it? Nah - couldn't be any of that. We were just a 1 hit wonder and a fluke

Listing the reasons you think your team couldn't sustain their success doesn't change the fact they were not as successful since their Super Bowl victory. All this stuff about, "Hey we were in the playoffs, we had a shot." But you didn't get back to the top of the mountain. Didn't even make the conference championship game in those years. This has become your Sixers argument all over again. "We have good players. We were in contention." You didn't come close. Making the Divisional round is not the same as winning the title, unfortunately. And the comment I put in red font. Holy shit. This is a new low even for you. Your excuse there are other teams?! "Hey, we would've been the best team if we were the only team!" That's the dumbest comment I've seen in quite some time. Congrats Frogs, I'm officially out on this conversation.
