... and a lady who's name I can't remember? Think she was an older lady from either Australia or the US... Lovely person, didn't care if anyone was of any religion or none, as long as they were kind and compassionate to people and animals (as it should be). That is most likely rachelcarson1953 a real "keeper" from the U.S.of A. ! She has some great and active back to nature threads on other parts of the forum. Thanks for the compliments and the tag, Penn Guinn ! Fr Jack , that was me, I still believe in freedom of religion (all of them) as long as people don't harm one another (though technically an agnostic atheist), and I am still vegetarian and volunteering in an animal rescue group. Due to recent events, I may have to add tree-hugger activist to that list, my new "neighbor" is cutting down trees next to my land. People move from the suburbs to the country, then try to make it look like suburbia, with lawns to mow... go figure. But my trees on my four acres are safe, and I will be planting more to stay surrounded by trees and wildlife. My latest focus is on birds, bees, organic gardening and, as ever, growing milkweed to feed the Monarch butterflies. I've missed you, too - I hadn't noticed you were back! Welcome!

Do you still have companion animals? Still the same two dogs (we are getting old and going grey together). Our Dexter is getting a tad arthritic in his hips, and doesn't run any more... Dennis the cat and May the house rabbit are all grand.

Eva was a sharp one. He really added a lot to this board. I've seen brief appearances by Film Flaneur, but without Arlon to interact with, maybe he thinks there isn't much to debate, here. Perhaps he is unaware of all the other returned posters.

Lovely person, didn't care if anyone was of any religion or none, as long as they were kind and compassionate to people and animals (as it should be).Did they still eat them? I don't eat them - my personal conviction - but I don't force my conviction on others. I will gladly explain my reasons to anyone genuinely interested, but am not confrontational with those who don't have the same conviction.

Our Dexter is getting a tad arthritic in his hips, and doesn't run any more... Dennis the cat and May the house rabbit are all grand. I've lost a few of mine, the older ones, but I still have a few of the others, PLUS a few new ones - a bottle baby I just had to keep, and a feral cat who had befriended an elderly retired missionary. His health was failing, had to move in with his son and his son was going to shoot the cat, so one of his fellow church members contacted me. Her name is Catarina, and she rules the back yard and barn. She's so chubby that she doesn't hunt anymore, given all the free food here! Then a very special feral girl kitty who was just a youngster herself, too small and thin to feed her seven little ones, so the clinic called me, and she and I raised those sweet babies until they could be adopted. She had bonded to me, and was very shy, so I kept her and named her Mama Kitty. She sleeps in my bedroom with me and purrs a lot! The dogs and the naughty goats are still fine!

I kept her and named her Mama Kitty. She sleeps in my bedroom with me and purrs a lot! One of the outdoor farm cats was called Mother Motor for her proclivity to have litters and her loud purr !

I kept her and named her Mama Kitty. She sleeps in my bedroom with me and purrs a lot! One of the outdoor farm cats was called Mother Motor for her proclivity to have litters and her loud purr ! She lived up to her name! That happened a lot around my area, farm cats that had lots of litters, until the local veterinarian started a new program: he would spay the mama farm cat if the owners brought the kittens in for me to raise and humanize, then the kittens would be spayed or neutered and offered for adoption. Farm cats still did their rodent control jobs, but no more multiple litters. An old fact from the Doris Day Animal League, back in the day, if one mama kitty and her litter are allowed to reproduce unchecked, after 7 years there would be 420,000 cats related to her. In towns around our small town, there are lots of feral colonies that rescuers try to trap, neuter and release (TNR), But in our small town in a rural area, there are fewer and fewer feral colonies.

I will gladly explain my reasons to anyone genuinely interested, but am not confrontational with those who don't have the same conviction. I don’t care for the hypocrisy, that is my conviction. How is that hypocrisy? And how is my position hypocritical? I don't eat meat, I conform to the definition of vegetarian.

I wasn’t referring to you, only hypocrisy of those that claim to be kind and loving to animals, yet then belie their own beliefs with culinary indulgences. Ah, my mistake... good point.
