Β Β You never know what's on recycled sheets of newspaper from random people... piss, shit, vomit, spunk, fanny batter, etc. It was nasty to wrap your chips in that π€’ They always wrapped βem in unread papers. At least thatβs my understanding.

"Colcannon" sounds more interesting and tastier than "stovie"!

Yeah, that's a meat stovie right enough. Swap the meat out for kale or cabbage (Savoy cabbage is best), and you've got colcannon.

Just had some Irn-Bru as it's been years; I think I was probably a teenager the last time I had it.
Sorry, it's awful!

My first "British tea" I was impressed by the bread buttered on both sides ... turned out that was quite by accident because they butter and stack the slices It was a tearoom where tourist busses were taken as part of the tour.

Had to be white pepper, never black pepper... I've tried both, and she was right.

Fr JackJulia Child and Jacques Pepin used to have "pitched battles" over white vs black pepper on their joint cooking show ! It's horses for courses innit... Always white pepper in colcannon/soups/stews, etc... always black pepper on pizza (vegan of course)/sandwiches, etc. I think for me, if I'm adding to cooking white pepper is the don... If I'm adding raw or after cooking, it's black pepper.

Fr JackThey were obviously such good friends ... it was fun watching them kid/argue about things like which pepper to use where and the correct way to crack open an egg. Highly technical cooking stuff like that !

This evening I am having garlic roasted portobello mushrooms in ciabattas, with home-made chimmichurri.
If Forest Green Rovers win tomorrow, I'll be treating myself to a chippy tea ππΌββοΈ
