Is it me or is the feel around this movie a bit off?
I dont know why but it does to me. Maybe its because they got to use Spider-man all of a sudden in Civil War and anounced Homecoming on pretty short notice cranking it in between Guardians and Thor. It makes me feel this is rushed and might not be as good as the normal MCU movie.
Does anyone know if the script for this movie was something Marvel had already laying on a shelf? Or was it written last minute.
Maybe its just Sony's involvement.
And maybe its just me.

It's got that filler vibe I'll admit but it still looks action packed.

It feels like a Spider-Man movie so far...so what's your problem with it? While I really liked Toby's take on Spider-Man, I absolutely hated Garfield and never understood why he got so much praise. I think Tom Holland will be the Spider-Man that literally lept off the pages of the comics. He seemed to capture who Spider-Man and Peter were.

For me, Spider-Man is like Pizza; I could eat it all day every day (if I weren't so afraid of ruining my girlish figure).
But, for non-Pizza lovers (sick bastards that they are) is it too soon to have another Spider-Man film? Is he too overexposed as a comic book character in cinema? I think Marvel was obliged to help Sony get something out quickly to take advantage of their unprecedented generosity concerning in the character.
That said.
I like what I've seen so far...
I like the tone.
I like the idea of getting back to the character's roots as a teenaged superhero.
I like the premise - it's clean and simple - people are stealing black market alien tech and then using it to break open the city like a piggy bank.
I like Tom Holland (his comedic timing and feel for "Spider-Trolling" his adversaries is dead on. Garfield always felt off to me and Maguire was a little too try-hard for my taste).
I LOVE the fact that we will get to see Spider-Man interact with other Marvel characters (like Iron Man).
I LOVE the fact that this story has all of the hallmarks of an origin story without all of the baggage. Homecoming is a baptism by fire for the wall-crawler without us needing to see Uncle Ben get shot for the umpteenth time. It's quite ingenious if you ask me.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Michael Keaton's vulture.
LOVE the fact that this is a smaller adventure but it still has high-stakes.
I love that this movie is getting away from the Nolanized "Amazing..." franchise. Spider-Man is not edgy or brooding. He's sarcastic but never cynical. He is your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
We're also getting away from the Spider-Man "frenemies" syndrome. How many times can he fight a guy that once was his friend or mentor? The Vulture is an unknown quantity, has no history with Peter and that means we don't know exactly how far he will go.
And I don't mind that Iron Man is being used to sell the thing (just as long as he doesn't dominate the story). Marvel has built up an incredible amount of good will with RDJ as Iron Man; I don't see any reason why they shouldn't leverage that in the marketing. It's just good business.
You can hate on Homecoming if you want to but, I'm stoked to have fun with a Spider-man movie for the first time in a long while. This movie seems set to pay homage to the character in countless ways that have never been done before. Kudos to Marvel (and Sony).SaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSave

I agree completely. A huge part of it for me is the whole "I gotta impress Tony Stark" angle. Judging from the trailers that's basically the whole movie...
Tony makes Peter his protégé Peter discovers a new threat Tony tells Peter to leave it alone Peter resents Tony's condescension and goes after Vulture Peter fails and Tony takes away his suit Peter saves the day without Tony's help or tech and thus wins his mentor's approval.
That is NOT my idea of a good Spiderman movie.

Holland sounds too childish. I always assumed that Spider-man was a mature-sounding 17 year old so villains assumed they were fighting an adult. Holland, who is older than 17 so his voice isn't going to change, sounds like a kid and apparently that's the way --uh huh--- Disney likes it.
I thought Maguire was "ok" but still a bit too wimpy. Not Ditko enough. Missed the Garfield ones so no comment.

Plus, Spider-Man was always a bit of a solo guy in the comics. I know he eventually joined The Avengers, but I never liked that. His solo actions were always more fun to me. All that said, I like Holland and I'm sure when he is on his own the movie will be good. I just don't understand why Iron Man is a main player here.

I'm a little blasé about it myself, even though I love Michael Keaton and consider Holland a combination of the best attributes of Maguire and Garfield.
It's probably Spidey fatigue. The trailers also feel really try-hard, between all the teen humor and quirky indie music. Okay, I get it, you're focusing on Spidey's high school days. Relax.

So I got a trailer for this in front of Wonder Woman and it was awful. Not the movie but the trailer was cut to shit. It lasted barely 90 seconds and felt like a Michael Bay movie on crack. Whoever did that I hope was fired because I can see that being a turnoff if they keep using that trailer.
