Tonight there is Nicole at just under 700 pounds.
Yes she has two, kids and must be hosed off in her back yard, instead of a regular bath. Her BF loves her???
WTF? Not only that.. when they moved to that motel in Texas, that pool was the new bath. She was in there washing the poo and everything else out, from her layers of filth.

WTF? UGH, I hope that pool gets drained & refilled before anyone else goes in it! Not only that.. when they moved to that motel in Texas, that pool was the new bath. She was in there washing the poo and everything else out, from her layers of filth.

WTF? Nicole was something else. Hosing off on the back porch had me rolling. And that boyfriend, what a treat! I think his brain fell out through that mouth that's constantly hanging open. He seemed like a nice guy, even though he probably couldn't spell the word spell. They both scraped the bottom of the barrel when it came to each other, that's for sure.

I've watched these shows, and they're all alike. First, we meet the person with the 600 pound life. Usually, it's a woman wearing a tent. Seriously. She's stuck in bed, gorging herself, and her children and/or husband must attend to her every need. Thankfully, they don't show bathroom duty, because I have a feeling that's pretty messy. Then, we hear about all the struggles. They'll interview the main star, who cries and says, "You don't know what it's like to be trapped in this body!" For added spice, we might see them taking a shower. No need to blur anything out--the fat covers all the naughty bits. Then we have the requisite meeting with the doctor. He tells them they must lose 75 pounds on their own in order to have the operation. They eagerly agree. The next weigh-in, they've lost two pounds. The doctor admonishes them. The patient cries, gets angry, or has a meltdown. Each time, they claim they've been "sticking to the diet," which is--of course--a lie. The doctor is interviewed. He doesn't sound optimistic. The main star goes home, sometimes after making a scene and stomping out of the doctor's office. Then we hear what's really bothering her/him. They were molested as children. That's usually the reason for their overeating, apparently. The next weigh-in, they've lost 45 pounds. The doctor compliments them. They all walk out happy. We see them at the gym, lifting mini-weights and kicking and twisting. They have the operation. They recover and continue to lose weight. Or maybe they don't continue to lose weight. The "not losing weight" scenario adds to the drama. In the end, they've lost about 300 pounds. The doctor is interviewed and says, "if she continues following her diet and exercising, she'll get down to a manageable weight...but we NEVER see that. The show just ends. Next episode? More of them same. That cracked me up! It was all playing out in my head as I read it. All true. Still, this show is kind of a guilty pleasure for me. Had no idea there was a new season out.

In watching Nicole's story, yes, she has to take responsibility, but you know what? I sure as hell wouldn't be able to stay positive with those crazy people around me all the time either, and sticking to the plan would be very hard with the likes of them around all the time screaming, using drugs, etc.
And is it just me, or did nobody else think Nicole was just 23? I don't know what it is, how she looks, how she talks, she seemed more like a 40 year old, but that life I guess she did have to grow up pretty fast.

this is something I have never been able to wrap my head around... how [literally and figuratively] can these overly obese women can even get pregnant? how can the father get his winkie in??? I have thought about this [not extensively] and I always imagined 'it' just bouncing out.
I don't understand how her kids were allowed to stay in that environment -- with the grandparents who use drugs. especially after this.
just a question... when the people from the show come to film, and they see something that should obviously be reported are they allowed to report? if I was not allowed to report something like that, at the same time saying: "sorry, Nicole, we can't do the show but we can help you..." I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

I admit I watch this show here and there the one poster summed the show up the best that is pretty much what I see happen all the time. I seen a couple of stories with two different women and they stuck with their diet. One was this black lady and it was a struggle for her at first but she kept the weight off after the surgery and she was eating salads and fruits.
Then another one I saw was this lady that went down to 160 something....I mean she did a great job with losing weight and then she had a baby and blew back up I think she was back up into the 300s. I was so proud of her.

Usually when they had their kids they were 400 lbs or less. Afterwards they start blowing up even more.

( Like, we will have a funeral before Thanksgiving-severely obese. She actually lost a little weight AFTER she had her children.

Losing weight is like becoming a rock star, everybody views 'making it' as the final goal, in fact it's just part of the journey, you have to continue to stay on top of it for real success.

Oh...my...GOD! Did anybody see James' episode tonight? Penny finally has a match. James and his girlfriend were two of the most vile people I've ever seen on that show. The fact that they have absolutely no self will power or willingness to comply with Dr. Nowzaradan's rules shows that he really doesn't belong on that show whatsoever. James is divorced from reality... he was actually shocked that he gained weight, when he was eating like a madman every single minute of the day and his wife or girlfriend was right there handing everything and anything he wanted to him.

I think it's very telling that when you play the video, a commercial for the garbage diet Nutrisystem shows up. These people should be getting treated for an eating disorder. Only a straight up food addiction gets you to 600 pounds, and the people in their lives end up enablers just like in the family of an alcoholic. Bypass surgery is a medical fix for the physical problem, but it's a waste if they don't address what got them there to begin with. I'm not surprised the majority of these people are sexual abuse victims. Eating disorders are very common among that population. I can't imagine living that

This is the biggest thing I hate about these people with no will power or doing things for themselves that is for the greater good. My neighbor's parents are in their 90's and everyone has to bend over backwards to make sure the mother is being taken cared of. She is not obese but has diabetes and it is easy to see why. She has no will power. She never did. How else would she be too used to feeding her face like a dog? Srsly, she has no 'off switch' in her stomach, similar to a dog. Her husband who is 92 is still going strong because he has to. If he doesn't she will die. Anyway, he tells me often on how 'he gives her too much food' and how he tells her to not eat all of it. Next thing, her plate is clean. This is how I know she has no will power. I just cringe at the thought of her being able bodied and sneaking food. She isn't able bodied so she doesn't but she acts like a 1 year old... reaching for food on the table and whining for it. yeah, literally whining for it.

People refuse to admit food is an addiction, they refuse to admit that abuse and trauma lead to addictions, they think you can get to 600 pounds JUST being lazy. If you saw somebody who for some reason hadn't showered in 2 years, would you say they were just being lazy, or would you say they had a psychological issue they needed to confront?

The general population is pretty uneducated about obesity. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of over-weight and obese people who are just content to make bad choices, coupled with a culture that encourages them. You start getting into the 300 pound range, though, and there are some other things at play.

Naterdawg: Dr. Now's dying of his remaining hairs shows a certain healthy optimism. James K having his teenaged daughter pulled out of high school so she could wash is disgusting bum is criminal!!!!!!

I'm going to go off on the general population of posters here. People are just slamming labels of "addiction" on these people, without looking at the dynamics (no one cares enough to, it's easier not to, and besides, I'm willing to bet few people here really give a damn). The point of any addiction, whether it's heroin, food, alcohol,...you have to understand it's a COPING mechanism. It's a tool. The way a cutter self-harms.
You guys see this very simplified, as just take the food away, the alcohol, the razor,...and teach them discipline. You're missing the REASON people get addictions, why they're running from something, and what it is they're trying to escape.
Most of you are so casual, and downright cruel. I noticed how most of these cases involve sexual abuse and trauma, and yet you seem to think that's just a random coincidence. Then what? They're all grown up they should just magically get over it?
By the time we're seeing them here, we're looking at decades of mal-adaptive coping mechanisms. You're looking at the symptom (overeating) without giving a damn as to the psychology behind how and why disorders like these evolve. You can have surgery, you can follow a diet, but if you have years of food being your comfort (from what?) and it's all you learn,...you'll still have a psychological problem.
It makes me sad. This is why people get so fat, so big,..or so damaged or so drunk or so high,...because people don't understand how these folks GET like this in the first place. You just want to take away their coping mechanisms. That's akin to bullying.
It's a shame to see this attitude from so many people. But it also explains why people are afraid of coming out to ask for help. There are way more factors at play here.
