Maybe some interest because of Hackman. I liked the original Narrow Margin. I like Narrow Margin until the final act. It gets dumb. It is worth watching for Gene Hackman though. Am I remembering right that you haven't seen the original?

Felon - 6/10 Stay Tuned - 5/10 The Fury - 4/10 Mine: Batman (1989) - 10/10
My all time favorite Superhero film. Friday the 13th part 3 (1982) - 10/10
Watched this on Friday the 13th. Great fun. Endure (2010) - 4/10
Ever wanted to Tom Arnald play a sadistic serial torturer/killer. Here ya go. Bullet Train (2022) - 4/10
Hoping to like this one better. Its watchable but gets too zany. Prey for the Devil (2022) - 5/10
OK demonic possession tale. The Levenger Tapes (2013) - 3/10
Good set up for a horror film ruined by a awful pace and a lousy villain. The Yards (2000) - 2/10
Very good cast lead by Mark Wahlberg is the only thing likable here. A very boring movie that I fell asleep watching...twice. Batman (1989) - 4/10 I do not dig it Friday the 13th part 3 (1982) - 6.5 I dig it

Welcome back to another week of the BEST & WORST edition of 'what movies did you see last week?' thread. For those who haven't been part of it before, basically your host (me) posts my weekly movies and you can comment on those and list your movie for the same time frame. I will get back to you on yours and you can talk to other users here about their films. It's a great place to talk about film. FIRST TIME FILM VIEWINGFelon (2008, Rick Roman Waugh) NetflixStephen Dorf (Blade) plays a family man who is convicted of killing an intruder who must cope with life afterward in the violent penal system. Val Kilmer co stars in this modest budget prison film that has some issues in the writing department but never over stays it’s welcome. 6/10Double Negative (1985, Sam Irvin) blu rayThis film short follows a film director who must plot to steal the negative of his film in order to save it from being destroyed in an insurance scam cooked up by his sleazy producers. 6/10Stay Tuned (1992, Peter Hyams)A whacky comedy about a tv obsessed man who gets sucked into his tv. It’s an ver stuffed film that doesn’t quite work despite some interesting ideas. 4.5/10REPEAT FILM VIEWING The Fury (1978, Brian DePalma) blu rayDePalma followed up the smash hit Carrie with another psychic Horror however this one’s story is not nearly as streamlined. It has far too many characters and storylines going to the point where all the characters maybe bar Kirk Douglas don’t really get any depth. The film succeeds despite these problems because of its superbly directed visual craftsmanship and set pieces. Not to mention a great score by John Williams and strong performances all around. 7/10Narrow Margin (1990, Peter Hyams)I did not care for this film on first viewing but I really enjoyed it this time around. It is really well crafted with some great dialogue. It’s only let down by the ending and tagged on epilogue. 7/10FIRST TIME DOCUMENTARY VIEWING The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker (2023, Colette Camden) NetflixThe documentary chronicles a happy-go-lucky nomad’s ascent to viral stardom and the steep downward spiral that resulted in his imprisonment. Average Documentary FIRST TIME TV VIEWING Treason (2022, Mini-series) NetflixStarts slow but gets better, good British Crime show. Good TVWEEKLY FILM AWARDSBEST FILM: The Fury BEST ACTOR: Gene Hackman - The Fury BEST ACTRESS: Amy Irving - The Fury BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Val Kilmer - Felon BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Susan Hogan - Narrow Margin BEST EDITING: James Mitchell - Narrow Margin BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Richard H. Kline - The Fury BEST SCORE: John Williams - The Fury BEST SCRIPT: Peter Hyams - Narrow Margin BEST DIRECTOR: Brian DePalma - The Fury 10/10 - Perfection (or as close to it as possible) 09/10 - An Excellent film 08/10 - A VERY Good film 07/10 - A Good film 06/10 - A Solid film 05/10 - An Average film 04/10 - Below Average film 03/10 - A mostly bad film 02/10 - A mostly terrible film 01/10 - Awful through and through 00/10 - Not only awful but offensive The Fury (1978, Brian DePalma) I mostly remember this for the scene where John Cassavetes' head is made to explode. Found it a bit messy overall. 5.5/10 Narrow Margin (1990, Peter Hyams) A decent, tight thriller. 7.5/10

First Time Viewing
Nightmare Alley (2021; Guillermo Del Toro) - Incredibly long and still somewhat shallow noir which suffers from a bland lead performance from Bradley Cooper as well as from being utterly predictable plotwise. 4/10
A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985; Jack Sholder) - Not as bad as some make it out to be, but still not a very successful continuation of the series. 5/10
A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987; Chuck Russell) - Perhaps the most fun film of the franchise. 7/10
A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988; Renny Harlin) - Some creative kills, but overall just too goofy and lacking real scares. 5/10
A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989; Stephen Hopkins) - This starts out in an interesting fashion, but completely loses the plot after a while. 4/10
Repeat Viewing
A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984; Wes Craven) - Only seen this once many years ago as a kid and remembered it being more frightening. 6.5/10
