Roger Moore as James Bond the Clown, in Octopussy (1983)Somehow, the not so funny Clown, who gets "written out", much earlier, well, that scared the hell out of me as kid, but as with many other Moore related Bond films, some of the most dark and scary ones, often tended to appear out of the blue, in the more light hearted and goofy ones, such as Octopussy or Moonraker (1979). Certain parts, just felt like they came straight out of a nightmarish horror film, and ended up in a Bond movie.

Almost forgot, not sure if he counts, but John Leguizamo stole the entire show, as the Violator in the probably all by now, forgotten but still fun b-movie Spawn (1997), and did such a ridiculous and down right nasty character, yet I cannot stop laughing at his terrible jokes:

Might just be among the funniest clown comedies of the 90s, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, and love the birthday party scene, where his old Police Academy pal Sweetchuck, arrives. Sadly, many of these scenes are no longer up on Youtube.
Uncle Buck is such a funny movie, and I wonder if the Farrelly brothers were inspired by the hilarious mouse-mobile for the later hairy dog car belonging to Harry and Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber (1994). Also the guy who portrays the villainous hitman also known as "The Gasman", is Mike Star, who shows up drunk and late in Uncle Buck:

From the series One Step Beyond, the second season episode “The Clown” (1960), one of the scariest stories of the 3 seasons that this Twilight Zone competitor ran. A circus performer murders the woman who won’t give him a look. The circus clown, a mute, loved her from afar. The murderer, every time he sees his reflection, also sees the clown about to grab him by the throat. When he turns around, there is no one there. Until…

"Once a famous Ziegfeld star, Dodo Delwyn is reduced to playing clowns in burlesque and amusement parks as a result of his drinking. His son Little Dink idolizes him and faithfully believes in a comeback. He persuades "Uncle" Goldie, Dodo's agent in the good old days, to find a booking for Dodo. He can't, and Dink is sent to live with his remarried-and-wealthy mother Paula. The unhappy Dink runs back to his father. His welcome return gives Dodo the courage he needs to try a knockabout TV show offered by Goldie." Bess Flowers as Convention Dinner Guest !
