a) a Shakespeare play or sonnet b) The Lord of the Rings c) The Sherlock Holmes canon

When I was younger I often used to quote American Psycho, but somehow most people didn't seem to be getting the jokes.
Today I sometimes quote E. M. Cioran (just to lighten the mood):
"Trees are massacred, houses go up β faces, faces everywhere. Man is spreading. Man is the cancer of the earth."
