The father of this performer was cast in a classic film; that would lead to the son's "appearance" on a classic TV show. Decades later, he would portray his father in a small role in a theatrical film.
Who is this performer?

Desi Arnaz Sr and Jr Junior played Senior in The Mambo Kings 1992 Correct! Arnaz Sr. met his future wife Lucille Ball on the set of Too Many Girls ; on I Love Lucy, Arnaz Jr. showed up to inspire a season of episodes about Lucy Ricardo's pregnancy (already wearing maternity clothes, Lucy seemed clueless until Ethel told her). The episode featuring Lil' Ricky's birth debuted on January 19, 1953, coinciding with Desi Jr.'s actual birthday (this being at the height of the Baby Boom, I wonder how many people were conceived around that time because their parents were inspired by the Ricardo pregnancy). Happy Birthday, Desi Arnaz Jr.! Marcia Brady probably still hasn't washed that cheek!

"This is how Lucy & Desi met, when RKO bought the rights to the Broadway musical of the same name. Some of the Broadway actors--such as Desi--were in the film, but other parts went to RKO actors, Lucille Ball being one of them. Both Lucy & Desi were engaged to other people, but fell madly in love during filming & were married not long after.
"Desi was 23 and Lucy was 29"

marianne48 Penn Guinn and others My first thought was actually Eddie Foy Sr and Jr since Jr played Sr in The Seven Little Foys 1955, but it turned out Sr only appeared in one silent movie (that is known), then mambo rang a bell.

Although Foy Jr. did portray his dad while confronting Cagney's 'Cohan' in YANKEE DOODLE DANDY.
