My tribute to Suzanne Pleshette, who died 15 years ago at age 70. Pleshette, who started off as a movie starlet in the early '60s, worked steadily, and became a TV star as television's favorite wife Emily, on "The Bob Newhart Show." A much-loved actress, here's my personal look at growing up watching Suzanne: ricksrealreel.blogspot.com/2016/07/suzanne-pleshette-next-liz-taylor-who.html

She was a strikingly beautiful woman with a distinctively sexy voice; it's puzzling why she didn't have a more extensive film career. She was probably fortunate not to have gotten that Gypsy role, though; Merman was such a jealous hag that she probably would have been upstaging Pleshette at best and having her fired from the show at worst. Merman did this to actress Betty Hutton in an earlier show, and she was the basis for Susan Hayward's character, a jealous harridan of an actress, in Valley of the Dolls.

Thank you for your celebratory post about Suzanne, ricksrealreellife. She was a wonderful actress and a very special person, someone I knew back in the day, and someone I will remember and cherish forever. I'm sorry she left us so soon. I know she would have loved what you wrote.
