I used to dislike Balmer, now I hope he gets at least one title someday.

How does such a fandom begin? I started watching NBA and it just happened. Im dutch, so my residency doesnt influence who Im rooting for. Were they good at the time? Was it the name or the uniforms? I met a guy in Ireland who said he chose all Minnesota teams because he started playing the NBA video game and the player he created was drafted by the Timberwolves. And a guy I met in Dallas who lived in New York but was from Australia was a NY Giants fan because he wanted to move to NY. I always kinda find this origin stories interesting, and haven't really figured out how (or if) to choose a team in some of these foreign sports.

They should just move out of LA given an already successful team with a great legacy. They seem pointless in LA.

They werent bad, but not championship material either. It was during their lob city time. I dont know what it was, I watched a whole lot of teams, but this one just stuck with me.
SA Spurs too by the way, I just loved Tony Parker. But never on the same scale as the Clippers.

So I’m a Celtics fan, and I hate the Lakers. So I’ll root for The Clippers to be the kings of LA because of it.

Back in the day they were the Buffalo Braves. I don't think that Buffalo was much of an NBA town, especially in the blah days before Bird and Magic. And they made a a horrible decision in the 1970 draft, passing on local Niagara legend Calvin Murphy for the aptly named John Hummer (he sucked). Still, had the team wanted to pay players, they could have had Moses Malone, Ernie DiGregario and Bob McAdoo on court. And two very good players, Randy Smith and Bob Kaufmann. That was a team that could have challenged.
