They have just been discussing it on Premier League Sunday on the wireless. I never knew it was such a thing... Clubs have body fat percentage limits for players, sometimes as low as 6%... If a player exceeds the body fat limit they are put in 'Fat Club', and aren't allowed to play or even train with the team until they are under the fat limit. William 'Fatty' Foulke will be turning in his grave...

They were tearing into Guardiola for disclosing / "shaming" that Phillips had come back from the World Cup overweight.
I think it's pretty funny when you have the world of sport rubbing up against the world of twitter and SJWs leading to demands that you cannot call into question the physical condition of a professional athlete!

This is all new to me, but it seems foolish. All modern internet discourse aside; obviously most players are going to have remarkably low body fat, but there are exceptions to every rule. Some player may very well come along who carries a little extra weight but is also an extraordinary performer, and you'd miss out on that if you let them put these restrictions on the team.

I find this pretty fascinating - i.e. how many players are not allowed to partake in games because they're over a certain body fat % I imagine it's partially a club being concerned for a players health - being he has to run around for around 90 minutes - they want him to be in tip top shape so he doesn't drop dead? Or is it a tad bit more shallow than that and the club is concerned about wins/losses or a combination of both I can't recall any leagues/clubs here in the States having something like this in place other than individual sports like boxing/MMA where an individual has to make weight for a weight class
