I would say no. He used to be my favourite but he's likely second or third as he was good even in the bad ones. That said, I think he deserves credit for being able to hold the mantle for more than one movie, but not the first to fully embody the character (that honour goes to Richard Brooker from Part 3 who's also my favourite Jason).

Not overrated. He’s the most popular for sure but he embraced the character and fans embrace him because of it.

He was like David Prowse- threatening in size--- but he also knew how to use body language considering the restrictions with the hockey mask.
There's a show he did--Horror Hall of Fame--where he came out as a presenter of an award with some teen guy--and he was standing with the machete and just staring at the guy, and breathing menacingly.

I guess rating Hodder's Jason any lower than #1 would make him by definition overrated, but I always preferred the more mobile, human Jason of the earlier movies.
