Great tips!!! When I used to make coffee on the stove, I always put a pinch of salt in it. I liked his idea of getting stains out with denture tablets, I wonder if that would work on other stains. I like the idea of coffee in the ice cube trays, I wonder if it would work with sugar free sweet tea, great for summer instead of overly sweet popsicles. When I worked in Greece in the 70's, iced coffee was a very popular drink in Athens, when I came back to the States - people thought was was nuts when I tried to order it. How times have changed,

How times have changed, I bought denture tablets to see if they'd work on a messed-up toilet. Didn't work. Then I tried to give them away, as I didn't want anyone thinking I wore dentures. No takers. Just used on the coffee pot. Worked, but I did need a bit of pressure with a sponge to finish. I think vinegar works as well.

Yikes!! Freezing brewed coffee?? Not sure that would be any good. NJtoTX, have you actually tried doing that? Of course, if you're adding cream and sugar, it probably doesn't make that much of a difference if it's been frozen or not. But I doubt black drinkers would enjoy that. But at least he's buying what appears to be some decent beans. The fact is, if you want your coffee to taste better you need to do two things, 1. buy better coffee and 2. only buy beans that are freshly roasted, like within a week is best. Coffee beans will often lose their natural flavors within 4 weeks of roasting. When you see words like "chocolate, caramel, lime" on the bag, that's what the fresh roast will taste like. Sometimes those flavors will last beyond 30 days but for the most part, 30 days is the limit. Not sure about adding salt to coffee either, that's another one of those things I would probably never try simply because it's better to just buy better coffee. Typically, that bitter taste is an indication of old beans or beans that are not of high quality. Plus, medium roast will typically not be all that bitter... Although, when you start trying out specialty micro-lot coffees, you'll get to where you prefer a slight bitterness to the beans and after a while, you will prefer light roasts. The fact is, light roasted coffee is the best. I know dark roast is massively popular but the roaster is just burning the natural flavors out of coffee beans when they roast that dark. Anyhow, independent roasters is what you should look for when buying coffee beans. If you live in a fairly large city you shouldn't have any problems finding a few local independent roasters that offer some really good stuff. coffeereview.com is also a pretty good place to check out coffee reviews and for ordering beans directly from the roaster. Here's a link to their latest reviews... and yes, the specialty coffees really do taste like this straight up black... www.coffeereview.com/review/

I froze my extra coffee in cubes to make blended mocha iced coffee. I was addicted to those for a while. I also froze my leftover eggnog in cubes this year and stuck them in ziploc bags. It freezes like custard.
