I can't understand how anybody can do that. Hitting people out of bounds is always a penalty. He hits Patrick Mahomes with seconds left in the AFC Championship game? When the score is tied? To put the Chiefs in field goal position? I can't understand it. Oh, how Joseph Ossai is going to suffer for that bonehead play. I'm trying to think of another dumb penalty that was that crucial. Just as stupid as Mark Ingram running out of bounds two yards short of the first down. When the Saints were trying to run out the clock on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Mark Ingram runs 5 yards out of bounds. He couldn't run two yards upfield for the first down. Nobody was chasing him.

Let’s start taking odds that he will get cut before the Super Bowl…

Of all the dumb penalties. The one that the referees will call every damned time. Even toward the end of the game when they will keep the flags in thir pockets, a hit on a QB out of bounds is always going to get a flag.

There were a few drops by Cincy tonight
Yes, I like to think Coach Zac Taylor won't lay it all on young player Joseph Ossai who gave it everything tonight. The final mistake always gets highlighted but seldom tells the whole story.
You lost Jeff Beck recently, and I just lost Tom Verlaine who was my guitar / piano dual hero growing up. For me, a depressing weekend was lifted by a great game of football.

It seems a beat-up excellent Chiefs team playing pretty good just defeated a great Bengals team playing great.
I've a feeling this SB will be ugly... hopefully not Peyton vs. Cam ugly.

Great game, a couple of questionable calls that favored KC, a couple of moronic penalties by Cinnci, and one hell of a performance by Mahomes.

As much as I like American Football, that game adds fuel to the fire that the game is too often decided by arcane rules and officiating. KC got 3 very beneficial calls that completely turned the game on its head.

Anyone else sick of the tomahawk chant Chiefs fans do? The chop rankings: 1. Florida State - it's passionate & greenlit by Seminole nation I think, done by raucous youth in a sport where every single game counts towards an historic season. It was legit passionate during this year's LSU game at the Superdome, putting the sport on notice not to poke the bear. 2. Kansas City - it's pretty mild I'd say. Middle aged ppl, usually wearing gloves or mittens from October onwards, not to mention winter face wear to muffle sounds. 3. Atlanta - categorically greasy & pretentious. It's just f'n baseball first of all, not to mention their fans are still outed bandwagoners who will probably want a new stadium in a few months if they're losing again.

The fans are going to be the ones that hang him. Zac Taylor, Joe Burrow and the rest of the Bengals will defend him. "We win as a team, we lose as a team', all that stuff. But that was a 59 yard FG without the late hit.

I’m really glad we had a great AFC Title Game to make up for the absolute dud of an NFC Title Game we had. It will be hard for the Super Bowl to top this game - although the Eagles and Chiefs is a great matchup, this was fantastic, and I think Mahomes and Burrow are the best 2 QB’s in the NFL.

Isn't hitting players out of bounds a penalty in high school and college football? Where did this guy learn how to play? He didn't know that already?

To rather clumsily paraphrase Texan rock 'n' roll legends ZZ Top, the future's so bright, perhaps we might all need shades. Just as long as everybody gets paid ...

It was just a boneheaded, stupid play in the heat of the game. No excuse for it. You would expect the whole Cincinnati defense at that point of the game would be telling themselves and each other, "No stupid penalties. All we got to do is keep Kansas City out of field goal range. And we're into overtime."

It was just a boneheaded, stupid play in the heat of the game. No excuse for it. And I get adrenaline. And I get that he's only 22 years old. I've never played a second of football but talked to guys who have played a lot, HS, college, even some pro (training camp). They tell me that all football players instinctively know where the out of bounds is. You see receivers never look at the ground yet can tap a toe in the green. Same thing with a defender chasing someone toward the sideline. You know when the line is coming and you let up. Ossai didn't let up. It's not an arcane rule and not a judgment call. If you pop a runner who's a step and a half out of bounds you are going to get called on it.
