A fascinating story concerning the elaborate undercover police operation to record a confession by Australian child killer Brett Cowan. It’s on Netflix in Australia. There is an apparently excellent book about the case which I’d like to read.
Here is an actual police recording of his confession. I heard this before seeing the film, but I guess it doesn’t matter which you see first.

I read the book. Fascinating story, very dangerous individual. The book expands on just how dangerous he is. He wanted to continue offending and was planning on it. The film also didn’t cover the story of another suspect who seemed to be a viable perpetrator for this crime which made the court proceedings rather compelling. The trial is covered in the end of the book but it is concise and doesn’t drag the momentum so that it’s an anti-climax. It was quite riveting throughout.
Its nice to know that the authorities are prepared to put tens of thousands of man-hours into even the POSSIBILITY of a conviction.
