Both Fox and MCU have a penchant for going for more conservative outfits for their female characters. Fox covers their characters with stiff leather or tactical outfits, with Olivia Munn having to beg and argue just to get a comic-accurate costume for Psylocke. The MCU severely toned-down the outfits of female characters like Scarlet Witch, Gamora, Elektra and Jessica Jones. Black Widow and Quake both wear body-hugging outfits but they're not as skintight as say Pfeifer's Catwoman costume or the various Spidermen costumes we've seen.
DC on the other hand doesn't seem to shy away from skimpy outfits, as seen with Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, Silk Spectre and even Poison Ivy. Even their bodysuits like Pfeifer's and Halle Berry's Catwomen costumes (and Black Canary's) are more skintight and body-hugging than Black Widow's, Quake's or any of the X-men's bodysuits.
This is not a post to discuss which studio has better costumes, because each one has its own merits. I'm simply pointing out an observation.

Idk man, psylocke looked pretty skimpy to me, not to mention that mystique is pretty naked.

Idk man, psylocke looked pretty skimpy to me, not to mention that mystique is pretty naked. That's what I said in my post. Olivia Munn had to argue with Fox and the director just so she could get the skimpy outfit. She was the one who wanted the skimpy outfit, the studio/director wanted to give her a more conservative one. Mystique... I'll give you that. Still, that's one character among a load of conservatively dressed characters.

Only MCU is more conservative regarding females outfits, this is because of Disney (princess) guidelines & policy; Disney even pulled Leia's iconic slave-outfit from RotJ from the market when they acquired LF . Still, the MCU females are sexy enough with the green-skinned Guardians female or Scarlet Johansson always making sure that her outfit is tight and sexy. It's only consequent that DC outfits are a tad sexier as their films are grittier and seem directed to a slightly more mature audience than MCU. X-Men is maybe the sexiest, sometimes comes dangerously close to nerd-pornography with Mystique.

This is not a post to discuss which studio has better costumes, because each one has its own merits. I'm simply pointing out that DC doesn't skimp on skimpy outfits. I knew there had to be something that I liked more about DC than MCU. Now I realize what it is. Actually, if they wanted the costumes to look like they do in the comics, they would all be made of body paint.

But it's still shorter than what we see from other CBM studios and this is for both Supergirl the movie and the TV series. You can especially notice this in the Supergirl TV series where she does a whole bunch of action scenes in a short skirt. I'm assuming that had it been a different studio, they probably would have made her wear pants or leotards or something.

Psylocke comes to mind but I've already mentioned how that was a result of Olivia Munn specifically requesting a comic-accurate suit. Which other female characters have the Fox-verse allowed to dress as skimpily as their comic counterpart?

Well, the skirt doesn't seem so bad. Oh it's not bad at all. But it does show quite a lot of thigh: I'm not complaining mind you, and I'm definitely not saying it's inappropriate or anything. Just that it's skimpier than what you'd see from other studios.

I think skirts are a decent middle ground between the leotards, which have been the go to attire for women in comics, and straight up pants. I think the issue is when you add pants you somewhat have to redesign the entire outfit to have the pieces compliment one another, or just jettison the outfit as a whole and make something completely foreign.

^ Well I'm not disagreeing. All I'm saying is that DC female characters on screen show a lot more skin and curves than other CBM studio females.

Dude, that was not my point; if you have one mutant porn-queen in your picture it's sufficient to qualify as revealing; mutatis mutandis you also have that over the top Psylocke character. Plus Emma Frost with her white revealing 60ies lingerie dress springs to mind. Also, there was that Punk girl on Apocalypse's side and there were slightly breast revealing Rogue costumes to defrost ice boys libido. But all still within the kiddy friendly zone, just like the Disney MCU fare.

Mystique and Psylocke were outliers that I didn't feel were sufficient to counteract the usual black-clad outfits of other characters. I will admit I forgot about Emma Frost though. That's a good call.

She's wearing stockings. Same goes for 2/3 of JLaw's Mystique appearances. They shied away from Black Canary's costume. Hawkgirl was fully covered. They turned Harley Quinn into an actual stripper. I hate the overly sexy Harley Quinn. Even in the comics and games. Can't think of a MCU character that could go the overly sexy route. Maybe Mantis. I think they went the "these women are sexy, let them be sexy" route. Gamora, Black Widow, Quake, May, Mera, Faora, Mantis, Nebula, the Carters, Sif, Maria Hill, Mockingbird, Wanda, Ayo, Vanessa Fisk (also Lara in MoS)... List goes on. Skimpy does not equal sexy. Harley Quinn was not sexy in those booty shorts. Especially since Margot Robbie doesn't have the body to pull it off.

And let's not pretend stockings aren't revealing. If a woman walks around town wearing nothing but bodystockings she'd be charged with indecent exposure. I wasn't trying to say which characters were more attractive than the other, simply pointing out that DC allows their female characters skimpier outfits.

I bet they didn't even do a fitting for that. [Edit2] And I'm not talking about sexier than other movie's characters. I mean the character wearing an alternative outfit.
