Pick up to 6 of your favorite movies featuring Paul Newman. Vote for your favorite movies (not your favorite performances).
You don't necessarily have to pick 6. Pick as few or as many as you like, but the max is 6. Have fun! Feel free to post a list of the movies you voted for, if you want.

So glad you posted this. Good job.
For me, the first two were quite easy to pick. HOMBRE and COOL HAND LUKE.
Then, it got tough to pick. Lots of fun ones, but I went more with the deeper ones this time, including some that were subtle in some of the messages.
THE LEFT HANDED GUN was not really the story of Billy the Kid, but more of a vehicle for other messages. Most poignant is the message that is subtlest, when the Kid is atop a roof and in a seemingly comical manner, murders a man, after which a child laughs, and is promptly slapped by the mother. It's scenes like this that are the real message of the movie. And it's even more relevant today, an age in which many naïve Americans applaud and laugh about killing. I'm not immune. We all have to fight demons.
EXODUS had some messages, too, though they weren't as subtle. We can all see them.
CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF has a lot to it. The relationships are superbly done. But, take a top notch script, and you usually get top notch results.
THE OUTRAGE is also a fine script, and measures well up to the Japanese film.

1.Road to Perdition (2002) - 10/10 2.The Hustler (1961) - 9/10 3.The Color of Money (1986) - 8/10 4.Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid (1969) - 7.5-8/10
that's everything i scored a 7 or higher from Newman. while Road to Perdition is the best movie he appeared in The Hustler is definitely the best movie he starred in as he was born to play the Fast Eddie Felson character (The Hustler/The Color of Money) and what made Butch Cassidy work is the chemistry between Newman/Redford.

So difficult to pick only six. He is one of my go-to actors.
Nobody's Fool. One of the most neglected of his movies. Amazing performances. Slow story. Simple story. Great film (imo).
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Early Newman. Incredible film. Even better when you are actually old enough to be watching it and have a clue about what they are talking about.
Butch and Sundance. Newman and Redford go outlaw. What more could one ask for ?
The Sting. Ditto with a TWIST or two.
Absence of Malice. Modern film in the city. Another quiet performance in a film that packs a punch.
Hud. Anti-hero that you pay attention to.
left off the list but deserves to be there is Cars. As the voice of the older experienced car it was perfect casting and a fine end to a distinguished career.

I had actually planned on including Cars, but I discovered (the hard way) that these polls only allow a maximum of 50 options. So I was forced to make some cuts. Choosing what to cut was not easy, as I was bound to disappoint someone no matter what I chose. Since Cars was an off screen voice-over, I reluctantly chose Cars as one of the several cuts I had to make.

movieloverSo I was forced to make some cuts.
Perfectly understandable. Especially in a career such as Paul Newman's. Interesting man on screen and off. What's really great in Cars is that the Doc Hudson car actually looks like Paul. These polls are fun. Keep 'em coming. (puleeze)
