Joe Wright's new one with Gary Oldman as Churchill sounds interesting (Darkest Hour, 2017) but after the monumental disaster that was Pan (2015) I am surprised they let him near a film studio again. Budget of $150 million! His trendy version of Pride and Prejudice (2005) was OK but not as good as the BBC TV mini-series (1995) that made a star of Colin Firth. Atonement (2007) was good but a bit careful and dull. Its most famous scene was the panning shot of the Dunkirk beaches, but even that may be forgotten if Branagh's new film about Dunkirk is any good. Hanna (2011) was a routine thriller about an action hero, basically no different from a Steven Seagal flick. OK, the hero is a chick, but that has been done before too. Joe Wright is obviously a master of his craft, but does he have anything to say? Matthew Vaughn was the producer of Guy Ritchie's two hits (listed in my poll). He must have thought "that's easy" and directed his own Brit thriller, Layer Cake (2004) in the same vein, and very good it is. I have heard good things about Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) so I will try to catch up with that.
