I miss the days when voice and talent were the chief reason that a female singer became a star, rather than because she looked like a pinup or centerfold model. Janice Joplin, Judy Garland, Billie Holliday, Joni Mitchell...none of them would have passed the pop-tart test, but they're the goddesses of women vocalists and there are very few today who can claim any parity with their ability. (Amy Winehouse is one, Tracy Chapman another. There are a few.)

Short version as it comes to female pop (not incluging all classic lyrics singers, but even the overfed ones look somehow good) singers, only one did it here who do not fit beauty standards. She is very talented, has à gift with words (writes her own lyrics) plays the piano, sings like à bird. Can’t dance and looks ”ugly”.But she’s into show business, she does what she wants in the professional capacity she might have wanted, and most of the people who’d call her that don’t. *So, on second thought, female pop singers look good, as they look good in show business. Male pop singers are not different. Elvis Presley, The Bigees, ABBA, The gratefull dead without make up ,Michael Jackson, Snoop Dog, MC Solaar, Joey Starr,... (And there is the one exeption just, but he’s talented same as females, so,no they look good generally speaking**.
