Christopher Reeve, mostly for the way he distinguished Superman and Clark so brilliantly. The scene where he almost tells Lois who he is, then changes his mind... all he does it take his glasses off and straighten up a bit, but in that moment you totally buy that people wouldn't recognise Clark as Superman.
Cavill could have been a wonderful Superman - he's got the look for it, and the acting chops. It's just such a shame that Snyder seems completely clueless about who Superman is. I've heard it said that Snyder is an Ayn Rand fan and can't understand why Superman would want to help others selflessly. Maybe so and maybe not, but it sure feels that way.

Christopher Reeves is that character. He's simply the man I picture when I think of live action Superman.

Christopher Reeve - He does the best Clark Kent for one thing, which makes the transformation to superhero that much more fun to watch. Reeve also brings a likability factor to the character that makes him easy to root for.

George Reeves IS Superman but I think of him more as a tv character.
For feature films: Christopher Reeve IS Superman. This is the role that he inhabits and actually looks like he feels comfortable in. Tho he did hate the suit ! They really should have stopped after the first couple of his movies before they became embarrassingly bad.

Reeves & this is not close. Surprisingly, I actually wish it were. Routh could've forged his own way instead of trying to play Reeves 2.0. Cavill plays him like a damn robot.
We need a friendly neighbourhood Superman, one we believe could rip someone's head off if need be. Reeves could walk on screen & nailed it. We need that again.

I've seen all except Alyn, but Reeve (no S) flies away with this. On that note, nice to know Brandon Routh uses this site, but it's not very humble to vote for yourself.

I won't comment on Christopher Reeve's because no matter what you say he's still going to be the first Superman we've seen on screen and that's a lasting impression.
As for Brandon Routh's Superman, I absolutely hated it. Superman Returns by itself was a terrible movie, and his character has seen less action than a white crayon. He was seen in public multiple times and still went back to living his life as a reporter and no one suspected him, not even Lois Lane's husband. Wow! I didn't know wearing glasses was such an intricate disguise. The saddest thing was Kevin Spacey's wasted talent.
Cavill is the best Superman we have had in years and he looks perfect as Superman. It would have been better if MoS and BvS were given a better script and directed by someone other than Snyder.

Got to go with Christopher.
As far as actors go, all actors are supposed to be thespians. It's the way the role was written that makes SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN II so awesome. A throwback to good characters, while giving us good situations. Christopher had the best script, and thus was the best Superman, but that's not to take anything away from him. He performed like a superman.
