First of all, no-one gets "scored on" (except maybe your mum) in football.
Secondly, the reason Madrid are slight favourites is because they're fairly solid in all departments but possess far more firepower up front. Doesn't mean they'll win of course. Games like this are usually very tight. Madrid also have the romance element having won the trophy more than any other team plus they won it last year so they could be the first team since Milan (89/90) to win it two in a row.
The main goal threat for Juventus is Higuaín. Has good stats but I'm not convinced.
The best chance Juve have is to score first. If Madrid do, I think they'll find it hard.

He's saying "scored on" is a solely American sports expression that sounds ridiculous when used outside that context. The link you posted is an American source, but internationally that phrase wouldn't be used.

Juventus have a very tough defence in their favour and have only conceded less than a handful of goals in the entire CL campaign. That is their main strength. You're talking about their defence being better than Real Madrid's in the way that Madrid's offence is better than theirs. Both decent in both departments but each one is better in one department than the other, so it should lead to an interesting game.
I actually fancy Juventus to do a job on Real Madrid, and I hope they do.

We're number 1 (we beat Spain)! What does it say about me that I recognise the reference?

What does it say about me that I recognise the reference? It's a marco26 reference, right? I remember this fellow from the old IMDb where I used to lurk. Funny guy. Precisely. The US beat Spain (then World Champions) in some minor tournament, or in a friendly, and Marco, ever the troll, latched on that to claim that the US was therefore the number 1 team in the world. Plenty of people fell for his trolling and argued in earnest about why that wasn't so.

The link you posted is an American source, but internationally that phrase wouldn't be used. Yeah, sure, but it is not surprising that I use American English, is it? That's what I grew up speaking. And my point is, why the attack on my mom (or mum for you all)? I confess that I was shocked with the fact that the first line I read after I publish a post very friendly to soccer/football culture, is a gratuitous personal attack. His point could have been made without involving my mother. It wasn't a personal attack; it's difficult to explain but he didn't mean your mother specifically. It feels weird even having to explain.

Again, it wasn't an attack on your mom, or indeed any particular moms. (Well, maybe John Terry's)

It's simply a play on the double meaning of "score on."
Take it on the chin (like your mum does).

Juventus has an incredible defense. It consists of a five man chain and hardly anybody manages to break it. It will be interesting to see how Real goes on about it, Just watch the players' virtuosity with the ball. And enjoy. It's a blast. 'Football is a hooligans' game played by gentlemen, Soccer is a gentlemen's game played by hooligans.'

Well, there is one scene that played out 1997 (pretty much exactly 20 years ago) , when Roberto Carlos hammered one of the most beautiful goals of all times against Donald Pleasence in the goal:
If You can feel excited about this, carry on becoming a soccer fan If not, stop it now.
(especially watch the replay-part closely!)

Thanks for proving my point, Andy. And mine, dumb Yank. What a brilliant reply!! you really reached down into your vast store of knowledge for an incredibly thought out and intelligent rejoinder. I'm in awe. I have to spell it out again "and mine" words that will live in Sports Board, no, internet, fame forever.
Don't bother with a reply, Andy Capp. There's only so much stupidity I can handle in one day.
