What a cool episode! As ReyKahuka said above, it felt like an episode of Andor. I was unable to finish that show because it felt nothing like Star Wars. This episode stripped the worst parts of that show away (too grim, no “Star Wars” feel, etc) and kept the great parts (cool espionage, slow but not boring).
Going back to Coruscant was so cool. It actually felt lived-in and real, unlike the bare-bones version we saw brief glimpses of in Andor. Though I will say, the shots they obviously took straight from the Prequels looked significantly better than the ones they animated on their own. It was distractingly bad when it switched to the newer version.
It was nice to see a story creep back in (checkmate, Prime) as well as get us a sweet dogfight followed by fun espionage. Probably my favorite episode of this season so far. It broadens this world even more and, other than a few iffy shots, it still looks gorgeous while doing so.

I really don't like this episode. I was excited at first because you could tell it was the first episode in a long time that actually had a budget. But holy crap, man. Fuck this guy and fuck this girl and fuck this whole storyline. This is the first Mando episode I really considered not finishing. Good god it was boring. The point was to introduce a new villain who is what, a sadistic New Republic extremist? Or something. Yeah they’re trying to add depth but like everything SW the progress they’re making is a slow crawl. It’s clunky.

How many times did Bo-Katan have to save Mando? And Mando barely survived those freaks in the cave, she cut through them like nothing. It was like he forgot he's armed to the teeth. I didn't like that at all. Him winning, but barely? No problem. Made those cave people look tough, unlike a lot of typical henchmen. Those things were strong and he only won because he had tech. Didn't mind him getting captured after either. No one is unbeatable.
But Bo Katan mowing through all of them quite easily? Pathetic. That's poor writing.

Remember when they put an episode of Mando into the Boba Fett Show? This almost felt like an episode of Andor in the middle of a Mando season. I liked it, though. I saw some people complain about this episode, but I liked it too. I can agree with the Andor vibe. Not quite as dark/grim, but in that direction. A nice pace from the Mando culture and look into the New Republic.
I wonder what that chick's motives were? At first, I thought she was simply brainwashed in the other direction. Same personality type, just loyal to the New Republic now. But then she tortured him and that made me reconsider that. Is she working to rebuild the Empire, which will turn into the First Order.

Yeah my takeaway is that she's a double agent for the Empire, or whichever faction of it. They mention Moff Gideon, I bet we see him again.

I thought so too, that's why she wanted Pershing's brain erased. Maaaaan, I felt for that guy. I thought it was a good episode. Peek into the New Republic and shades of what's to come (Palpatine). I enjoyed it.
Plus, the dogfight was awesome.

Apparently this has been going on behind-the-scenes: While Gina Carano was obviously not happy with how her exit from The Mandalorian was handled in 2021, she's not standing for people criticizing the actors who've remained a part of the popular Star Wars series for the new season. Carano's Cara Dune character, who was featured prominently in the show's first two seasons, and this left a bit of a void heading into season 3. It may have contributed to increased screen time for other characters, such as Katy O'Brian, who joined the series as Elia Kane in the second season. While essentially a background character in season 2, the third season has put Elia into the spotlight with a more prominent role.
On social media, one of Carano's critics shared an image of O'Brian to celebrate how the series "kicked a muscular transphobe off the show and then brought in a muscular lesbian." The post has generated a lot of controversy, and some people have fired back by insulting O'Brian. It's gotten so ugly that Carano herself felt compelled to weigh in, sharing the post on Twitter along with a statement condemning any toxicity that's being leveled against the "sweetheart" that she knows O'Brian to be.
"I’ve been tagged in this a bunch so I wanted to say one thing.. please do not engage in hateful comments towards the actress in this pic," Carano says in her tweet. "I met her on season 2 of Mando I believe and she was a sweetheart. Send her nothing but love. The person who posted this is sad and got the ugly attention she desired.. but that is not this actresses fault."
Carano continued, "It hurts my heart to think that someone is so excited about a job to be met with unjust hate because of ridiculous drama, rumors and heresy. I experienced that and it is cruel, I don’t want anyone else to feel that. Move with care on here."

Last month ahead of the launch of the third season of “The Mandalorian,” showrunner Jon Favreau was asked about his thoughts of a potential series finale down the line.
At the time he said he hadn’t planned an ending for the series as yet, telling Total Film: “It’s not like there’s a finale that we’re building to that I have in mind. Quite the contrary, I love for these stories to go on and on. And so these characters potentially could be with us for a while.”

You're right but 2 years and 2 months is still a long ass time. Why is it that thousands of shows can put out 45 to 50 minute episodes but this one can't? They stuck some Mondo/Grogru action into the Boba Fett series.

It was an ok ep, albeit short and replete with vastly contradictory details of Grogu’s abilities and understanding, some otherwise bullshit action sequences and predictable, risk-averse plotting. But for Disney Star Wars, it’s light years ahead of anything else.

A very classy response by Ms. Carano.

Pretty good episode, but I have to wonder exactly where this is going. It semes like they ended the Mando apostate story too soon and now don't quite know what to do next.
The Jedi that saved Grogu was played by Ahmed Best. He played Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy.

We're back to the bread and butter thank goodness. Mando and Grogu. And their buddies. But 27 min 45 seconds is bizarrely short. I'll take it though, if I don't have to suffer through last week's bullshit again.

Liked this episode a lot, the scenes with the Armorer are fantastic. I love the concept of the armorer as a kind of spiritual leader for this warrior cult, who speaks in vague terms and helps you find your spiritual center. People ultimately believe what they want to believe, she doesn't put them on a path so much as guide them down the road they're already traveling.
Some decent action too, though you'd think they'd be more careful if creatures are going to attack them every five minutes. At one point after the kid is taken, they mention this has happened before. Maybe post some guards? I get a chuckle out of the Mando sound effect kicking in each time he performs an action feat.
Honestly the stuff with Grogu is probably my least favorite part of the show. There's just no way he becomes a Mandalorian, I don't know or care where his story is going. If he's going to be around for a while, he needs to start talking. I have little interest in watching a baby muppet cooing his way through battle scenes.
In true Disney fashion, the Mandalorians decide not to kill and eat the baby pterodactyls, which would be the most logical thing to do. I'm assuming they'll use them as steeds or guard dogs in the future?

Episode 4 was a fine, adventure of the week kinda episode. I’d be fine if they adopted this style permanently, but the switching from something like episode 3 to episode 4 is giving me mixed signals.

Why it took the creature a full day to bother regurgitating him for its young, and how the kid could breathe in there all that time, we'll never know.

I thought this was a really bad episode. Maybe the worst yet. It looked very cheap. The effects were awful aside from those creatures. Coruscant looked fake and amateurish, as did several action scenes. Sooo anticlimactic. I'm also completely and totally over Filoni's obsession with the prequel era.
I love Grogu, but outside of him, this episode suuuucckkked.
