You are right. The Mikado was considered a living God and elevating kings and such as gods or claiming descent from a god is nearly ubiquitous in emerging civilizations. Part of Japan’s total surrender to the Allies was Hirohito had formerly renounce his and his descendants God-head. According to MacArthur it wasn't Apparently it WAS part of the initial surrender request (can't remember where I read that), which was rejected.
MacArthur could have ordered Hirohito’s issuance of the above imperial rescript, but he asserts in his Reminiscences that it occurred “without any suggestion or discussion with me.”
I wonder what that translates as.

You and three or four of your sodomite friends can still have a good laugh about it. You don't even know what a biblical sodomite is you sad little man.
EDIT
How stink does it feel to be so totally devoted to your religion and still not have a clue what it is about? I kinda pity you.
Really? I don't pity you. You're old enough to make your own decisions and take the eternal consequences for them.

I wonder what that translates as. Sorry, I read this as you suggesting that MacArthur is not being totally straight? I mean I guess there is the idea of some coercion, on the other hand it is documented that the emperor had already questioned his divinity, and I wonder looking at what happened to Japan, as their leader you might think after WW2 that maybe being deified was not the best plan ever? Just to be clear I know it's way more complex than one sentence can give it, and that the allies felt that a deified emperor was a bad thing, i feel like (and of course its just an impression) Hirohito agreed of his own accord.

Yeah the Bushido thing is interesting, given that they had rejected it near the turn of the century, and then introduced (an arguably more stern and unforgiving version) it back again when Japan went so imperial. As I said before I was never much into the pacific theatre, I mean except for the corsair so be serious , I feel like I am interested now more in reading about the rise of imperialism in Japan.

There was a Japanese poet who attempted to bring back the culture in the 1950s. After he failed, he committed classic Seppuku. I can’t think of his name.

To be fair I would say trying to bring back a culture that got Japan so ruined when most of the survivors were still alive would be a futile effort.

The US government went way out of its way in getting Japan back up and running as soon as possible for this reason. Russia was bearing down on them and could have appealed to the defeated and disgruntled population. Japan could have been North Korea.

Yeah the occupation of Japan is one of the American military success stories, you could argue they did too well.

Japan Draws Up Guidelines on Child Abuse Linked to Religion. Forced participation in religious activities to be classified as child abuse.Tokyo, Dec. 26 (Jiji Press)--Using threats to force children to engage in religious activity, or preventing them from marriage or study on the basis of religious doctrine, amounts to child abuse, according to new guidelines drawn up by Japan's welfare ministry. The guidelines' points to keep in mind when receiving consultations about suspected abuse of children by parents who are members of religious groups are set to be distributed to child consultation centers nationwide, sources familiar with the matter said Monday. Written in a question-and-answer format, the guidelines were created on the basis of hearings with children of religious group members. The guidelines say that using phrases such as "You will go to hell" and other threats to force children to participate in religious activity amounts to abuse. They also say that not offering adequate food to children due to the lack of living expenses caused by massive religious donations can be abuse, as can preventing children from interacting with friends who do not believe in the same religion. Japan will classify as abuse any acts by members of religious groups who threaten or force their children to participate in religious activities, or that hinder a child’s career path based on religious doctrine. According to unnamed sources cited by Japanese daily Yomiuri Shimbun, the Health, Labour and Welfare Ministry is preparing its first draft in connection with religious groups such as the Unification Church, officially known as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. The Unification Church came to attention in 2022 after former prime minister Shinzo Abe was fatally shot by a man with longstanding grudges against the religious group. Children of religious groups’ followers have criticised the authorities’ handling of this issue in the past. They have said child consultation centres and the police did not respond to their complaints of abuse, telling the children there was nothing they could do because freedom of religion is protected under the Constitution. In October, the ministry had told local governments not to make perfunctory responses simply because a problem is religious in nature. The guidelines will specify what faith-based acts against children fall under the categories of abuse as stipulated in the Child Abuse Prevention Law.
A fascinating episode of the original "Star Trek" was "The Children Shall Lead." I think most people have seen all the episodes several times now, and know which one I mean. Otherwise you might find a friend who has the DVDs, or stream it from somewhere. I might talk about the television series in connection with this board often, I hope not too often. It did have a philosophical essay in most episodes. That's all about Star Trek for now though. A widely held concept of "government" is that institution in society that has the unique right to coerce. It should probably be added, "to coerce adults," since most societies recognize the rights of parents to coerce their children in several recognized ways, including building their foundation base of knowledge. If you believe "Government Knows Best," you will likely approve of it even trying to spare children lessons in religion. The people who believe government knows best are not usually near the right end of the human intelligence bell curve though. Being a product of the "people," government tends to suit a median intelligence. Where government should not stray it is to the annoyance of the more intelligent on the right. In fact all learning for most years of elementary school is "coerced." Children simply have no foundation base of knowledge from which to question their instructors, whether parents or public education. Debate class is usually postponed to after the seventh year of elementary education, and then only highly supervised.

I never said William Shatner was a "great actor" did I? Let's be honest, the whole series was just a tad too cheesy. Nevertheless I enjoyed most episodes. You might recall some discussion here much earlier of the personality theories that the series hinted. WILLIAM SHELDON categorized physical forms as Mesomorphs (muscular, like Kirk), Ectomorphs (thin, like Spock), and Endomorphs (fat or not especially thin or muscular, like McCoy). ERNST KRETSCHMER categorized physical forms four ways, Athletic (like Mesomorphs), Asthenic (like Ectomorphs), Pyknic (like Endomorphs), and Dysplastic (disproportionate mix) (Sheldon also recognized mixes). The "muscular" Kirk was a "take charge" kind of guy. The "thin" Spock was reflective and intellectual. The "neither" of those (fat) McCoy was more an emotional character, always upset with Spock's apparent lack of emotion. Those theories of personality never took much hold on later psychology because clinicians are hesitant to limit their clients to any particular personality type. It was a matter of telling them to be what they want to be as long as it did no harm. Yet there can appear correlation between physique and personality in many real settings. If you have seen William Shatner lately you know he is now more the endomorph than Dr. McCoy ever was. There I go again off topic. Sorry. On topic, I can only repeat I am not a big fan of government raising children. I do realize some parents do a terrible job, but not often enough to throw out all parents.
