Confession time: I've never seen The Big Lebowski. I do know it's a popular late-90's comedy and the Jeff Bridges "The Dude" character has become this pop culture icon. Edited-for-TV version: "You see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?!" Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: The Big Lebowski (1998) - 2.5 out of 4 stars"One big shaggy dog joke, courtesy of the Coen brothers, about a slacker who's mistaken for a crime big-wig of the same name--and then gets hired by the guy to pay off a ransom. Mostly an excuse for off-the-wall character vignettes, some of which are amusing, some of which are just...strange. Minor Coen concoction with a most agreeable cast. Turturro is a standout as Jesus the bowler, but Bridges' The Dude has become a pop culture icon."

My favorite Coen Brothers movie. Hilarious and incredibly entertaining throughout, with a great soundtrack and awesome characters/performances.

I haven't seen many of their films but it did draw me in and make me laugh.
Only seen it once but you don't forget scenes in it.

The other Lebowski isn't a crime boss, he's just a trust fund tool whose trophy wife gets mixed up with the wrong crowd.

Showed up to a movie too early and sat in on a few minutes of this one. It was the fantasy sequence with Julianne Moore in a viking outfit. Thought it was weird and walked out. Rented it when it was available on VHS just to see what the hell the movie was about, and ended up moving it.

I watched it for the first time about four years ago and thought it was decent but not great.
A second viewing makes you appreciate the comedy much more. Also the intentional absurdity of the entire story too.
Great movie! The Coen’s rule.
