Which of these once-proud franchises that Disney is in the process of bastardizing with their horrific and gag-inducing approach to producing movies like sausage links would you rather see fail abysmally at the box office this year, between these two swirling, chunky turds: Spider-Man Eleventeen: The Re-re-re-make for re-re-re-tards (working title -- "Spider-Man Homecoming") Star Wars XXXIV: The Last Jedi Until the Next Movie (working title -- Star Wars: The Last Jedi) It would please me immensely to see them both literally make zero dollars at the box office, so it's a tough call I'm not prepared to make at this point. What say you, people? Pah ignore this fool people , thinks the phantom menace is a masterpiece furious! Sup, man? You forgot to add something crass or homophobic; it's not a "real" furiousstyles post without it. I'm a bit hurt.

I would have bet upwards of $17 that you would have picked Star Wars re-re-re-tards if for no other reason than to send daisy ridley's career swirling down the toilet.

Star Wars kind of got off light by comparison, you're right. Very astute observation, and I welcome the feedback. I'll be more savage going forward.

Why would i want to see either fail at the box office? Why would you want to see either succeed at the box office? I love both Star Wars and Spider-Man. I understand that the haters, like you, want them to fail. But you cant be serious thinking either could be box office bomb. I mean, even the worst Star Wars and Spider-Man movie were still box office success...

But you cant be serious thinking either could be box office bomb. I mean, even the worst Star Wars and Spider-Man movie were still box office success... I'm a lifelong fan of both dissatisfied with the gutter Disney has driven each into; and the thread is hypothetical. Nowhere did I predict failure for either -- in fact, just the opposite. Furthermore, I'm not sure your last statement is correct, being that Sony crawled back to the House of Mouse after ASM2 and begged them to just make Spider-Man movies since they (Sony) were too retarded to pay someone to do it themselves and keep a larger percentage of the gross. From this article: Some say that this has to be the most maligned movie ever that turned in a worldwide gross of $708.98 million, including $94.4 million of that from China. But tell-tale signs of franchise fatigue are evident. Consider how the Spidey numbers have descended. The original Sam Raimi movie grossed $821.7 million worldwide, including $403.7M domestic and $418M foreign. The sequel did $783.8M worldwide, $373.6M domestic, $410.2M foreign and the third one jumped to $890.87M worldwide, with $336.5M domestic and $554.3M foreign. Then, Raimi decided no more and (500) Days Of Summer helmer Marc Webb took over, with a compressed amount of time to work up a new version before the rights clock ran out and the franchise would have reverted to Marvel at Disney; Andrew Garfield inherited the Spidey suit from Tobey Maguire and Emma Stone took over female lead. Their first film had a worldwide gross of $757.9M, with $262M domestic and $495.9M foreign. Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s $708.98M worldwide fell short of that, and its $202.85M domestic was off and the $506M foreign was good but that enjoyed a boost from a burgeoning marketplace in China. The biggest problem, according to our data, is that the movie cost too darned much at $255M. That left Sony Pictures with a $70.38 million net, or a 1.12 cash-on-cash return, and 18th place in the 2014 rankings.

We all know it won't happen for either.
But, it has to be said, Disney shot Star Wars in the foot by making the PT and OT pointless so its ST can happen. Pre-OT spinoffs are just salt in the wound since nothing that happens will matter, as the future is doomed.
Homecoming looks alright but already has too many changes through Peter and Stark's relationship to be claimed as "classic" Spider-Man. The Raimi ones, with all their own debatable stuff like web erectile dysfunction, are still the closest. But they're over, done, the book is closed after SM3 wrapped up everything. If they were to continue it now, maybe only a movie with dad Peter and his kid Mayday/Annie May would work. TASM had that secret Parker parent stuff nobody asked for and forced universe building in the second.

This is the way in which The Force Awakens did the most damage to the Star Wars saga as a whole long-term, and also the one least discussed. Really key insight here. And I agree re: the Raimi installments being the closest (and best) adaptations to date.

Neither. I like MCU and I like Star Wars. I think Homecoming will be the biggest grossing Spider-Man film, and TLJ has a chance of raking in more than TFA, maybe even Avatar numbers.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the point of the thread is for you to choose one or the other if it HAD to bomb, not wax rhapsodic about your love of both. So which is it?!

weirdraptor, why do you insist on forcing this Disney crap on us... as if there is any threat to their BO?? Are you that insecure in your love for these movies?

Why are you so insecure about movies you don't like being discussed. Then again, aren't you the guy from the old IMDB boards who was constantly harping about feminsim being forced on you in the form of things like it being criminal for a man to force his girlfriend/wife to have sex against her will? ...I don't think you understand what "forcing" something/someone is.
