It's a perfect night for mystery and horror. The air itself is filled with monsters.

The Stand & Salem's Lot are my favorites. I also loved The Shining because it was like the book. The first half of It was great but the end sucked.

Salem's Lot (1979). I, too, watched the original broadcast in 1979. I was only 9 years old at the time and had to close my eyes during the scenes with Mr. Barlow....he scared me that much!

Big King novel fan...so Ive seen the majority of the films/series based on his novels. I liked the IT miniseries as a kid, and Salems Lot 79 is still creepy af. I think the only one I watched as it happened was Desperation, some of which was pretty solid (Perlman) and some of it not so much.

IT and Rose Red. I didn't see It until the late 90's since I was about 3 when it first aired, but I watched the Rose Red miniseries when it first premiered and had a hard time sleeping afterward. LOL.

Salem's Lot and Rose Red. I don't like any of his other mini-series. I saw Salem's Lot as a kid and was terrified about the window scene, as a lot of others were too, apparently Rose Red had a very powerful build-up. It's extremely effective, very nicely done. Ultimately, it did kind of lose that tension, the ending is abrupt and not very good, but that build-up alone makes it quite good imo. Of his other mini-series, I dislike The Stand and The Shining the most. The Stand was a horrible attempt to portray that novel, imo. None of the actors worked well, Molly Ringwald was horrible. Gary Sinise wasn't bad, but still. The opening scene is about the only good thing about it all. The Shining I seriously dislike because of the kid who played Danny. I started to root for the hotel about halfway through. Seriously dislike that character. IT wasn't very good either, imo, but that did have Tim Curry. He was great as Pennywise.

"It" is my favorite. I'm also a big fan of "The Stand" and "The Shining" (Kubrick's movie is WAAAAY overrated). YEEEESSSSS!!! I just KNEW I couldn't have been the only person on the planet who wasn't worshipping at the altar of Kubrick's "Shining". Heck, I thought "The Simpsons" parody had more scary scenes than the movie!

I'm partial to "It", "The Stand", and "The Shining". I, sadly, saw "'Salem's Lot" in its edited version.
