I post this with no support for any agenda or position. I'm just curious what people on any side of any fence would think in comparison to the all female showings of Wonder Woman (and the responses to it), if anybody even suggested an all African American showing of Black Panther.
Is there a difference? Would you care? Would that be acceptable? If yes, why? If no, why not? And how do your answers to this compare to how you felt about the all female showings of Wonder Woman?

Why on earth? I dont think anyone would want that. If they do go ahead but its nonsense.
Ladies only nights, clubs an stuff are there so they can feel comfortable without being hit on constantly by testostoron bombs. In case of the Texas theatre (which is no news outside the US btw) its a gimmick because of the nature of the film (first major outing in a shared universe made by a woman about a female a superhero) and not a sexist thing.
People are so sensitive nowadays. Just enjoy your life and let others do too. Live and let live.

There's nothing sexist about it as far as I'm concerned. Good for them.
I'm not sure the ladies only viewing of the film has much of anything to do with being hit on though.
Regardless, if there was a theater that felt a similar gimmick for the Black Panther film was to organize a black people only viewing, what about that are you finding ridiculous by comparison?

Because gender segregation can be usefull from time to time (sports, safe environment) . Racial segregation is plain wrong.

Ok so I have a follow up thought, because obviously there are times you 100% want sexual segregation. But this wasn't for athletic parity, it wasn't a bathroom/spa/shower type of situation, and it wasn't a dark ally, so is sexual segregation always acceptable in any situation just because a group wants it? People are always hanging out with the guys, or having girl's nights out, but I mean large public events. Could Hilary Clinton hold a women only public rally for instance and nobody would care? Could Bill? What if we applied this situation to LGBT people if a movie came out that about an LGBT character? Would the safety/sexual orientation concept apply there?

I actually don't. That's why I said it's just for the responses. I was curious what the feedback would be that's all.

Like I said if people want to do that than why not. Its not always gonna be usefull but who am I to judge. And btw I dont think Hillary would allow Bill to habe a women only rally. 😉😉😉

I personally wouldn't care. But let's be honest, if they did a white only showing of say Captain America or Iron Man, there would be a huge fucking controversy.
The only thing that annoys me about this is the double standard that comes with it, other than that I say let people have their fun.

Nobody wants a white only showing, but the fact that if you did have one it would be a major controversy, is a bit of a joke, when it comes to saying that doing any of the others is no big deal.

Or... Show it in a theater that's in an predominantly black neighborhood. Most likely all black audience.

Would I care? not really.
Is it acceptable? err hard to say, double standards etc.
With the WW women only screenings I didn't really care, but I somewhat understood why some were actually upset.

I was curious when somebody suggested sex is different than race, and that sexual discrimination can be perfectly justified for reasons like safety or privacy. Yeah I agree with that, but then movie viewings really don't relate to either of those things, it's just about wanting to only be around women. And I can understand that too. But if it came to race, I think people would start to freak out and I wonder what the real difference is.

Is there a difference? Would you care? Would that be acceptable? If yes, why? If no, why not? And how do your answers to this compare to how you felt about the all female showings of Wonder Woman? I personnaly don't care for that BUT if it's done in moderation, like a gimmick by a theater. The problem is when that's the norm and not the exception. Would I mind one evening catering to a group of people with similar characteristics? Like say women or black or fat or tall or gay or whatever? No of course not, having a characteristic common with your peers makes humans bond be it color skin, sex, political affiliation, team, religion, etc. I don't beleive in segregation and think that sex or skin color is just one more characteristic that differentiates us, but at the same time (generally speaking) makes us connect with people with the same characteristic. The problem with racism, sexism is they give one of those characteristics too much importance because it's the more evident one and one you can't (easily) change even if you wanted. Now, if ALL theaters would start doing that in all showings, Hell yeah I would mind. The danger in doing something like this is just that. If it becomes the norm you limit people's freedoms and that can't happen. I don't believe in segregation and that goes both ways. I don't want the old ones back but i don't want new ones either, and sometimes things like this seem to propose new kinds of segregation and that just frightens people. It all depends also to the degree of hate or what you want to do to some other group. Like a sports fan will "hate" another, but it limits it's hate to wanting the other team to loose, it's when things get serious that the problems arise. Same with politics, NOT the same with KKK or ISIS for instance where the point is to eradicate some other group(s) through violence. Now these showings to cater to a specific group are not that different than say a rally where you must be affiliated with the party to get in, unless of course they are chanting "all white men must die" entering the theater or start planning mass murders or to make it the norm. This gatherings are not limited to race or sex, all nations do this "band together" and no one bats an eye. The G7 summit is just that, a group of nations sitting together because they have something in common, in this case money. So does it bother me being the exception? not one iota.
