One interesting thing with it is that you have the local boy returning home--maybe he was a red herring--I am not sure I got that impression--he never struck me as suspicious--but usually in small town stories--the characters either leave from a scandal or to find success abroad. It's rare that they come back because they failed to make it in the big city (of Toronto).

Love After Death(1968) aka Unsatisfied Love. A short(72m) low budget Argentine thriller with poor dubbing and worse acting, direction, and editing. At least it has ample nudity and a high sleeze quota. Porn actress Jennifer Welles has a part as the brunette in the lesbian scene. 3/10.

The Video Dead (1987) Horror-Comedy with Zombies emerging from a TV set. The Comedy barely gave me a couple of chuckles, and it makes little attempt at suspension of disbelief so I didn't take any horror seriously. There is some decent gore. 3½/10.

Friend Request (2016)An introverted, homely girl stalks a popular college student named Laura. After the introvert commits suicide, her demonic spirit causes the deaths of Laura's friends as revenge for being rejected. Yet another case of a good idea wasted. Borrowing from the much better Unfriended and keeping up with the theme of social media pitfalls, Friend Request does have a degree of creepiness to make it watchable. Unfortunately, it ends up taking the easy route by being standard and generic, with predictable jump scares. Also, CGI wasps are not scary in the least. 5/10

3/10I was massively disappointed with this one. Its a humorous horror body swap film. It really just feels like more could have been done with it. Heather Graham is very sexy in it though.

1/10Bottom of the barrel haunted house film that has nothing redeeming about it. The ghosts in this film are pathetic. They are just regular people with white and black make up one. Like someone started to put on KISS make up but didnt finish it. Poorly acted and written as well.

Insecticidal (2005) The brainy girl in the sorority house has been doing experiments on bugs, and they become larger and predatory. Special effects not good but the girls are pretty, and some of them are fond of having sex and taking showers. Not too bad if you don't take it serious. 4/10.

Nocturna (1979) Horror-Comedy. Nai Bonet is a foxy Vampire named Nocturna running a hotel in Transylvania who moves to NYC to be with her human BF. Many of the jokes fall flat, and lots of disco music takes away from any horror mood building up, but Nocturna looks good dancing and does get naked a couple of times. John Carradine and Yvonne de Carlo have supporting roles. 4/10.

Cobweb (2023)A young boy hears scratching noises and voices coming from behind his bedroom wall at night. He also wonders about his parents' increasingly erratic behavior. This scores a major bullseye for its atmospheric horror. With a story that is shrouded in mystery and with much edge-of-your-seat suspense, Cobweb is thoroughly engrossing and terrifying right to the very end. Following the standard Roger Corman rule of "Don't show the monster until much later", the creature here is subtly glimpsed at as a shadowy, spider-crawling figure until it is completely revealed near the end. This makes it all the more creepy, and the revelation did not disappoint. If you decide to watch this, try to avoid watching the trailer first because it spoils a couple of great scares. 8/10

Bliss(2019) A female artist lives in a chaotic haze of sex and drugs, and that's before she turns into a Vampiric type monster. The plot is confusing at times and the cinematography is often blinking with mostly red shades, like watching a colored strobe light, but despite it's flaws I found it oddly fascinating, though I doubt my eyes would want me to make a habit out of watching movies like this(there is a warning posted at the beginning). Quite bloody. 6½/10.

City of the Living Dead (1980) A priest's suicide in a graveyard opens a gate to hell and the Living dead begin to emerge and murder the locals, although the best kill is of the human on human variety. Journalist Christopher George and psychic Catriona MacColl must figure out how to close the gate before it becomes permanent. lots of gore(Lucio Fulci directed). 5/10.

Vengeance of the Zombies (1973) Zombies, Voodoo, and stranglers in London amid a convoluted plot and some bad acting(or was it bad dubbing?). Paul Naschy has a dual role. 4/10.

Challenge the Devil (1963) 6 Adult Delinquents break into an old castle resided in by a strange man played by Christopher Lee who proceeds to make a deal with them which they quickly regret. Italian with English subs. Filmed in 1963 by a company which then went bankrupt. The film was bought by another company, re-edited, poorly, and released in 1965. 3/10.
