White Cannibal Queen (1980) aka Cannibals. A scientist leads a very incompetent expedition into a tropical jungle in search of his daughter who was kidnapped by cannibals years before. Some gore, but less than I expected from a cannibal movie, and surprising little nudity for a Jess Franco directed movie. A really lame "fight to the death" for a grand finale. 3/10.

I think I saw that one before. Did it have Al Cliver? If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was pretty forgettable and I was quite drunk.

Polaroid (2019)A teenage girl acquires a vintage Polaroid camera that is possessed by an evil entity. Anybody who has their picture taken by this camera is targeted for death. Fairly good teen horror that has some good story ideas, a dark atmospheric feel to it, surprising twists and turns, and minimal jump scares. If only it could have stepped up its game to deliver some better horrific thrills and less tame material. But it is a PG13 horror movie, so... 6.5/10

In a Violent Nature (2024) I'd heard good things about this but I was unprepared to witness one of the greatest kills in horror this century.

DEATH SMILES ON A MURDERER - 1972 - Weird dreamy gothic film that seems like it could be a remake of some Bava -Steele film with lesbianism and gore thrown in. Ewa Aulin is too cute to be sinister though. Would have been better for Barbara Steele lookalike Patty Shepard.

Ghost Fever (1987) Little in the way of laughs (if any) in this horror-comedy with Sherman Hemsley & Luis Avalos as police detectives investigating a southern mansion where they need to evict the occupants, but run into the ghost of a slave trader. Very oddball feature, slow first hour with the typical haunted house tropes, awkward encounters (dance off) and then the last half centres around a boxing match. Film was started in 1984, but not finished until 1987, where it was quickly released and all but forgotten. Alan Smithee strikes again.

Blood Sisters: Vamps 2(2002) An ex-Priest runs a strip club where his Vampire GF and some of her friends work. Trouble starts when another Vampire seeks revenge for something that happened in a previous movie, Vamps(1995), which I couldn't find streaming anywhere. Plenty of nudity and some nasty villains keep things interesting. 4/10.

Fright (1971)A college student babysitting in a large house in the woods get a lot more than she bargained for during the night. This British thriller is quite possibly the first movie to feature the "babysitter terrorized by a psycho" theme, but this motif has been handled much better by future horror movies that were yet to come. Fright does have a couple of intense moments, but it's mostly just too straightforward and ordinary. Susan George does a competent job as the babysitter, but Ian Bannen is just so-so as the maniac; he's just not really convincing enough. 5/10
