"The 5th Wave" based on a Book. It was okay. Apocalypse/Alien invasion. It's more geared towards Teenagers. No word on a sequel. There are two other books in the series. Wondering if it will go the way of "Ender's Game" and never film a sequel.

Vampire in Brooklyn. It was the first time I've seen it and I was pleasantly surprised. It's not as good as Fright Night but it is in the same vein and is pretty well done.

Re-watched Blood Beach (1980). The film’s poster artwork along with the tagline sells it; ”Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... you can't get to it!". Nice. However the end result isn’t as striking.
Simply an okay creature-feature that squanders it’s concept, possibly a little too dry and lackadaisical headed by charmless leads. Not enough of John Saxon as cranky police captain and Burt Young as a sarcastic detective. Most of the time they’re standing around clueless and bickering to what’s going on, but I actually enjoyed all their scenes. Can’t say the same for everything else, including some of the repetitive, if rib-tickling attack sequences. In the end it doesn’t add up to much with the decent looking monster design (when we finally see it) wasted for quite a lame, and unimpressive climax, but at least it had wicked closing shots.

The Snowman (2017)
Considering all the terrible reviews it got, I did not think this movie was anywhere close to being such an "awful" final product as so many seemed to think of it.
I gotta be honest, I went in expecting the "worst" but what I ended up with was far off anything close to that as it was to be more of a mediocre/forgettable thriller which I guess once had some potential, as it had been hyped up for a long while by the norwegian media where people like Martin Scorsese would direct and Leonardo Di Caprio would star as detective Harry Hole.
While writer Jo Nesbø is among the most popular and best selling authors in my country, I have never read any of his books and went in with absolutely no background upon the main character Harry Hole, well beside that I know it is based upon Snømannen and that I have seen one other film based upon his books, which was the 2011 crime-thriller Headhunters.
Maybe that was for the best, as I guess if I had a personal interest with the book series, then I might have been far more critical.
However, this I think is taken from the 5th or 6th book based upon Harry Hole and we do not get to know much of him rather than he is yet another cliche ridden rough outsider cop/detective who has lots of private and personal problems, a broken up marriage and that seems to be it.
His co-workers are neither that interesting or get much chances of getting to know them well either.
I thought Fassbender did a okay job with what little he got, but it was a sad sight to behold the once great Val Kilmer in such a depressive part where I am surprised they could not get any other actor, as it was not the biggest one and it all looked clumsy and amateurish.
The film never really gets under my skin and become any close of exciting or thrilling, but it do contain some very beautiful scenes and use of locations, and I cannot understand why so many seemed to focus negatively on the nature shots used in the film, as that was probably one of the things the film actually did well.
Not too much and not too litle, just about the right amount of time used on trying to create some much needed atmosphere.
Looking up all of the talented people involved along with the budget, The Snowman could have been so much better, however I wished they had used more scandinavian actors but I guess if so, this movie would maybe never be made which might have been the best way for everyone involved.
Considering how good Headhunters in many parts was, it is a shame how things ended up with The Snowman as it had so much potential going, but somewhere along the way it all went very wrong.
For me, this was not even close of being one of the worst movies of 2017, instead I thought it was just another mediocre and disposable but still somewhat fairly entertaining movie which was much "better" than what I had feared and I ended up rating it a very kind:

I'm watching the movie The Others from 2001 on the channel IFC right now    . This is one of my top favorite new-ish yet memorable ghostly horror flicks as well . This one definitely makes my list of Halloween films to watch on the month of October also   . |

Dracula (2006)
British BBC TV movie which seems to have taken certain liberties in changing a little of the story line/plot and recuding some of the main characters into almost, well having not exactly much time on screen, if any.
I did not expect too much of it, as the DVD artwork made it look like a very cheap product, and it surely do suffers from some bad special effects and awful editing, and is never any close of reaching into an mediocre rating.
However, I thought Marc Warren portrayed a good or creepy version of Count Dracula, but was let down by the lousy make up, but then again he come off as much more intimidating without it, and I remember him also for his nasty part in the Hogfather (2006).
Some of the actors invovled are just not up for it, and look clumsy and amtaurish in how they delivered their lines and not even the great David Suchet has much to work with here, and I think manages to clock in about 5-8 minutes of time on screen.
All in all, a below average b-movie which I just picked up on sheer impulse, and will never watch again.

I just watched "Animal" 2014. It was an average monster killing pretty people in the woods movie but enjoyable enough. 6/10

Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) - 6.5/10
Well, it isn't nearly as good as the first one, but it's fine for what it is. Tony Todd steals the show of course, and the atmosphere and score carried from the original is still solid. However, its biggest flaw is the plot; we get so much to explore but it isn't explored very much. Also, the entire flashback where we get to see Candy's origin feels a bit pointless since we already know what had happened: showing it won't make much difference. And as for the character of Ethan (William O'Leary), he was completely wasted for a final confrontation between him and the titular villain, because his motives and story was very interesting up until he got killed for false assumptions of a death. Then again, I did see the last 20 min or so on TV one time, so I'm not too surprised since I already know what happened at the end.
Overall, not great, but okay if you're a fan of the predecessor. It at least keeps the same spirit and tone of the original with some decent kills (although they tend to be the same throughout - stab in the back).

I'm right now watching from my DVD Collection this film - Homicidal from 1961 . One of my top favorite William Castle films and definitely never tire of this intense film either . |

Dracula Has Risen from the Grave 1968, the 4th in the Hammer series, and the 3rd with Lee. I like how Christopher Lee plays Dracula, 100% evil and animalistically attractive. Storywise it's okey.

Finally got around to this. Ugh. Why did I bother? I never thought I would get tired of seeing tits so quickly. Lots of unfunny, self-indulgent humor and nowhere near as fun as it looks. A generous 4/10.

The Fury 1978 directed by Brian De Palma, called a Sci-Fi horror movie, but I would rather call it a supernatural thriller, that sadly hasn't aged well, I've seen it before and liked it, but this time I thought it dragged. Wellknown actors like Kirk Douglas, John Cassavetes, Carrie Snodgress, Charles Durning, Amy Irving, Andrew Stevens appears. "A former CIA agent uses the talents of a young psychic to help retrieve his telekinetic son from terrorists, who want to use his mental powers for evil"

Final Destination 5 - 6/10
I originally saw this in a sanitized version where all the good bits, the gory death scenes were edited out. It's an okay movie, although the series had already become a bit of a parody at this point. The characters are completely unmemorable and there is very little of the creepy atmosphere which made the first one so effective, but the death scenes are quite fun (though not particularly logical, in one scene a character slips on something and somehow manages to crash through a window and fall to her death, I'm still not sure what happened there). Unsurprisngly none of the cast have gone on to have decent careers after this.

Young Frankenstein 1974, directed by Mel Brooks. A humorous homage to the old Universal movies, at least the first four of them. I've seen it before, and have always enjoyed it.
