Night of the Living Dead (1968) - 8/10 Finally saw this original classic. I wasn't too blown away by it, but the film is definitely solid and was very shocking for its time, as nothing like it had ever been done before. I watched the OG B&W version. There was also a coloured edition but I went with the former, since it's really the superior version. I agree about Barbara being a lousy character, and the ending being a complete shocker. What else is there to say? Hey, you're still afraid.
They're coming to get you Barbara.
Stop it! You're ignorant.

That guy was a natural actor. A whole movie of Johnny ad-libbing, I would watch it.

You're welcome mszanadu. 'Darkness Falls' was an enjoyable movie and one of the most underrated Horror movies of the 00s in my opinion and there are a few great Horror movies like that one which come out around the same time that seemed to slide underneath the radar and didn't get much promotion and I am not sure why but many people are still discovering them for the first time now and are saying how much they liked them and the Horror genre is full of many hidden gems. I totally agree here DebLovesBeccy . There are quite a few good films like this one
that sometimes goes unnoticed
but it is like " lost treasure "
( or as you said here " hidden gems " )
once we discover these
awesome films to enjoy here too . Again thanks so much for your reply . Yeah. I agree. It is always good coming across movies like these and I am still discovering a lot of good Horror movies that came out in the 80s that weren't released here in Australia but regarding Horror movies that came out in the 00s have you seen Soul Survivors, Drag Me To Hell, Amusement, The Midnight Meat Train, Ghost Ship, Satan's Little Helper, Toolbox Murders, Slither, Splinter, Shadow Puppets, The Alphabet Killer, Eden Lake, Trick 'r Treat and Timber Falls? Those are some that came out in that decade I think you might enjoy if you haven't already seen them.

for all these movie recommendations .
I actually have seen most of those excellent films
those 2 look quite intriguing also .
My absolute top favorites from your list here -
IMPO - Those films were amazing on so many levels - the music / musical scores ,
the storylines , the unique settings , and the memorable casts too .
I never tire of these 2 particular films either
and these also make my October / Halloween list of films
as a must watch on this occasion as well .
Also one really good movie I recommend
that is almost along the same lines as " Toolbox Murders " .

You're welcome again mszanadu and thank you for letting me know about that movie. I can't say I have seen 'The 4th Floor' before but I will check it out when I can and see if I can get it on the Australian Amazon store when we place our next order on there. We have got a lot of Horror movies from Amazon over the years and a few years ago they were releasing all these Horror box sets that had 10-20 movies in each of them for only around $10 each and some of the movies inside them were pretty bad but others we enjoyed and made it worth getting them. 'Amusement' and 'Satan's Little Helper' were enjoyable in my opinion and both movies have Katheryn Winnick in them. I hope you enjoy them.

"Piranha II: The Spawning" (1981)
Sucky sequel just doesn't feature enough good killer fish action, although the effects are generally good. The whole thing is played much too seriously, unlike the clever original. Lance Henriksen struggles to retain his dignity.
Highly inauspicious beginnings for James Cameron. Fortunately, he made "The Terminator" next, proving that he'd learned some lessons.

So eerie yet a very intense storyline on every level as well it's even better than I remembered it many years ago too .

Watched somewhat of a forgotten 90s zombie horror film The Boneyard (1991). Slow to get going, and mainly set in the one location; late-night at a mortuary. However I thought the character banter was amusing enough, especially Phyllis Diller and her poodle to keep you engaged before the ludcrious thrills and ghoulish FX finally break out. And when it does, it doesn’t disappoint... that’s if you like goofy fun.

Highly inauspicious beginnings for James Cameron. Fortunately, he made "The Terminator" next, proving that he'd learned some lessons. Watched it years ago. Cameron's first movie and it's a complete disaster. Inauspicious beginnings indeed. I remember hearing he actually quit (or possibly got fired) during production and someone else ended up taking charge of the film.

ACT OF VENGEANCE aka RAPE SQUAD 1974 AIP exploitation flick starring Jo Ann Harris who is very good as the lead--I was saying in another thread she deserved more of a leading career based on her performance here. The rapist is dressed like a proto-Jason. It's a simplistic film yet entertaining with frank dialogue like:
"I hope you run into a big mean 300 pound faggot killer, and I hope that faggot rips off your clothes and sodomizes you in your big fat ass! And, after all that, I hope you run into some dumb son of a bitch like yourself and he has the nerve to say something about laying back and enjoying it!"
The scenario of the rapist leading them into the trap has a couple of flaws though like-what happened to their guns? But you don't think of that while watching.

Is this the same film where one of the female victims was a medical surgeon and was doing on the attackers a " removable surgery " of certain private parts of every attacker of each female victim in her group that she knew ?
If not I may be thinking of another film of this type
that was made back in the early 1980's ( either way I have not seen these films in a very long time - quite intense ) .

No no it's not anywhere near as violent as that. They threaten to pour acid on some guy's genitals but its really a blue dye so that if he rapes someone else they will know its him. Much of the time they get a karate expert woman to kick the stuffing out of their targets.

Oh OK - A kick-butt only lighter fare revenge type film - got it !!
It seems there was A LOT of these
attacker / victim revenge types of films
back in the 1970's and 1980's too
and it can sometimes get tricky
to keep track of all of these too .
Thanks so much Primemovermithrax Pejorative

I remember hearing he actually quit (or possibly got fired) during production and someone else ended up taking charge of the film. Yeah, the story goes that executive producer Ovidio Assonitis (himself director of such things as "Tentacles") fired Cameron after about a week, dissatisfied with what Cameron was turning out. Assonitis then proceeded to direct the balance of the picture himself.

and would recommend here too . Again thanks so much for your replies . Thanks for letting me know about that one too mszanadu. I think I might have seen that one but I am not sure so I will have to look into it. I have seen so many Horror movies over the years I forget the names of some of them and don't remember I saw them before until I am watching the movie and it starts coming back to me and that can be annoying when it is a Horror movie I like and want to buy on DVD and I rented a lot of Horror movies at my local Video Ezy years ago that I want to get but I can't remember the names of including one about killer gnomes and I have been trying to remember what that one was for over a decade now but no matter how much I think about it or look into movies with killer gnomes on Google I can't remember it. Have you seen 'The Reaping', 'The Messengers', 'The Glass House' and 'Long Distance?'
