To Hell & Back /and Spookers. The first is a rather revealing, and candid documentary on horror icon Kane Hodder & the second is an enjoyably looney, and personally reflective documentary about a former asylum turned performing arts spook house in New Zealand. Wow. I haven't seen 'To Hell & Back' yet lostinlimbo and didn't know it existed but I will have to look out for it the next time I place an order on Amazon. Thanks for sharing that trailer on here. I didn’t know about it either, until a friend lent it out to me other week. He said it wasn’t easy to come across, and had to splurge a little more money than he usually would. But it’s a very good doco, especially the personal stories about his childhood and of course what he went through after the fatal burn incident when starting up his career. Very emotional and inspiring. Not one to miss, if you get the chance.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes 1970, directed by Ted Post, staring James Franciscus, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans, Linda Harrison Charlton Heston and others. The obvious sequel to the 1968 classic. Not the letdown I remembered that I thought it was many years ago, in some parts it's actually not bad at all, while other parts are ridiculous or badly realized. Very impressive sets in the underground scenes. The movie starts where the the first ended, Heston disappears early in this movie and don't return until near the end, we follow another astronaut that has landed on the same planet that the earlier expedition landed on. I don't want to give away too much, if there is someone out there who hasn't seen this and the 1968 movie.

It’s really a film of two halves. I forgot how closely the first half resembled the original, but the latter half really took it down the unexpected path. I really liked this daring, somewhat imaginative side of the story when it goes underground, but indeed it felt sort of unfocused, and rushed in reaching its pay-off. Still a very solid sequel, although I might put it behind the next two sequels to follow.

Bride of the Monster 1955, directed by Edward D. Wood Jr, staring Bela Lugosi, Tor Johnson, Tony McCoy, Loretta King and others. In the Florida Everglades a missunderstood genius are experimenting with creating a super race with atomic powers, and an octopus, or something like that. Having read and heard about how awful this movie is, it's better to see and make up your mind by yourself, and yes it's awful. It's fun to at least have seen it. Are there octopuses in the Everglades? Creating the poster looks like it costed more, than making the movie: I haven't seen this yet, but I might check it out it for the October Challenge.

Ed Wood either didn't know, or just didn't care. Either way, the result is hilarious. This movie is what I like to call terribly good. That poster is the best thing about it.

I totally agree here DebLovesBeccy
those are definitely another
awesome set of underrated films
here and ones I have seen too . Again thanks so much for the reminder on these as well . Also another good one I just got through watching today too ( and haven't seen this one since it was brand new back in the day also ) . It just so happens I have seen 'Wes Craven's 'They' movie mszanadu and that is a good movie too and I have watched a lot of Wes Craven's movies over the years and two of his lesser known movies I watched in the past year were 'Never Look Down' and 'Night Visions' but I think the most underrated movie Wes worked on was 'Wishmaster' and if you haven't seen them you should watch the 'Wishmaster' movies. There are four movies in the franchise and I think the first one was the best but I liked 2 and 3 too. Robert Englund recently called 'Wishmaster' one of the most underrated Horror movies of all time and thinks the franchise needs to be brought back and Andrew Divoff who plays the Djinn has said he wants to do another movie.
The " Wishmaster Films " are definite
favorites of mine here too
( and have all 4 films on DVD ) .
These also make my list of Halloween films
to watch for the month of October also .
I remember watching '' Night Visions '' on TV many years ago as well
but I'm not familiar with the film '' Never Look Down '' .
who played the Djinn in the
first 3 Wishmaster films
was excellent indeed .
who played the Djinn in the fourth & final film
as well .
Again thanks so much DebLovesBeccy
for your film recommendations and your replies here too .

Kicked off the October challenge today with Halloween 4: The Return of Michae Myers. I remember this being one of my favorites in the franchise but man... it did not hold up. I rated it a 4/10 and can’t help feeling like I was being a little generous. Everything about it was just cringeworthy for me. Ah well, maybe I’ll have fun with it again some day with a couple beers.
Oh yeah almost forgot to mention the DOPE costume and mask selection at the discount mart. That alone was probably worth a point.

They have it on the American Amazon store but it is only available on Blu Ray which wouldn't have worked on our Blu Ray player if we could still order from there. I will have to look into some other sites to get it but they might eventually get it on the Australian Amazon store 'cause there is more being added every day.

I am glad to hear you have seen and liked the 'Wishmaster' movies mszanadu 'cause they are some of my favourite Horror movies in the 90s and early 00s and I am not sure if you heard but Andrew Divoff actually wrote a 'Wishmaster' movie called 'The Third Millennium' which sadly never came to be 'cause the studio thought it was too expensive to make at the time and this is what he said about it in an interview from last year. It is a shame he never got to make it 'cause it sounds like it could have been an interesting movie and things have changed with special effects since they made those movies and maybe it is possible for them to make a movie like that now for a cheaper price. I completely agree with him that 'Wishmaster 5' should happen and there is still a lot of life in it and we don't have many new movies like 'Wishmaster' anymore so it would be something that would really stand out. We are currently re-watching 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' here and are up to the final episode of Season 2 ('Becoming Part 2') and we are going to re-watch 'Angel' too when we have finished Season 3.

I hope everyone is feeling good in your October hunts anad haunts. Escape from the Planet of the Apes 1971, directed by Don Taylor, starring Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Bradford Dillman (playing a nice guy for once) and others. Mixing a bit of science-fiction and a bit of satire about celebrity status and how flighty it actually is.. Entertaining 3rd installment of the series, with a sad ending Mocking Senator hearings.

THE NIGHT CHILD 1975-- Richard Johnson and Joanna Cassidy star in Euro-horror inspired by the Exorcist but pretty mild in the demonic possession department. Another thread discussed actresses who you were surprised went nude well, I remember a Joanna Cassidy interview where she related an experience making a movie overseas early in her career and she was forced to do a nude scene. I guess she got over it because she has one with Richard Johnson here! She has a great laugh btw.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) - 7/10
An interesting movie with a nice set-up and a halfway original idea. I think it would have been more effective as a supernatural thriller, the horror elements were a bit clichéd and the ending felt a bit rushed, it's as if they didn't really know how to wrap up the story in a satisfying way.

Day of the Dead Bloodline...meh, not all that fun or inspired. Still has plenty of zombie guts. Hammy acting. Just saw this the other day too, a sort of remake. It was entertaining enough. Still, much better than Day of the Dead: Contagium (2005).

Watched Wishmaster (1997), which I did see back when it came out, but not the three sequels, which I plan on watching for the first time next.

Yeah, my friend picked up his bluray copy on eBay, but you’re paying more for it on that site. But it’s fairly new, so it might show up around Christmas time on the local Amazon site, or even streaming channels.
