Stanley (1972) After the huge box office success of Willard in 1971, there were a few clones made dealing with mentally unstable individuals who used dangerous pets to extract revenge on their enemies. One of them was Stanley, about a Vietnam veteran living in the Florida everglades with a collection of poisonous snakes. Not particularly well made; some of the acting ranged from terrible to mediocre, and the dialogue is standard. The campiness and comical elements don't really work, either. On the plus side, some of the revenge sequences are effective, especially the part involving quicksand, and the ending was quite appropriate. So overall, I'd say Stanley is average at best.

I enjoyed the last three films to a certain degree, however ‘Leprechaun in the Hood’ was a charmless slog to sit through.

Not sure what I was expecting, but this one blew whatever it was out of the water. Deliciously evil and violent and hilarious at nearly every turn. And surprisingly well acted! I'd gladly watch a sequel. Highly recommended. 8/10

The poster artwork was pretty cool. That’s all I remembered about it, until l looked up my old IMDb review. Kinda easy to see why it’s a forgotten staple. An attention grabbing opening eventually becomes plodding, talky and not enough thrills. Looks like the production had some behind the scenes issues too. Probably not a good sign director Ken Wiederhorn took over, as at that time of his career he was tired of doing horror films according to his Return of the Living Dead II commentary thoughts. Yep, the kind of typical "classic" VHS release, where the movie poster is just too good to be true, and well, it sadly turned out like that as well. But early on, I should have taken the hints, when even the usually upbeat and eccentric Moriarty seemed to go into "hiding", it was never gonna be a "thrilling" adventure.

Ecologica del delitti aka A Bay of Blood 1971 directed by Mario Bava The murder of a wealthy countess (Isa Miranda), which was erroneously deemed suicide, triggers a chain reaction of brutal killings in a surrounding bay area, as several unscrupulous characters try to take over her large estate. The sure are unscrupulous as they kill nearly everyone who might come in the way. This was on my list for October, but then I forgot about it. Two of the slashings is supposed have been copied more or less exactly in the first and second of the Friday the 13th movies, one in each, but since I'm no expert of those movies, hoping for some help. After nearly a month of Hallmark Christmas movies that GF loves, I just needed to watch something else.

I know for sure of one scene that Friday the 13th Part II copied, and it's the one with the couple impaled by a spear while in bed.

Giallo in Venice (1979)This Giallo is a little unconventional in how every plot thread ties together, yet making it fairly unpredictable. Definitely up there with the most nasty and sleazy the sub-genre can offer up. The body count is small, as the focus is on a police investigation in picturesque Venice involving the death of a young couple in the opening seconds. Throughout the picture there are flashbacks of the couple, which come and go mainly centred upon their deviant sexual relationship. It was okay, but the pacing was somewhat bumpy, performances unmemorable and the actions can be repetitive. Also how it cuts between present day, and the flashbacks sort of found me losing interests in spots because I didn’t find it to be all that cohesive. One thing though; the violence is mean-spirited and not for the squeamish. And the sexual activity pushes the boundaries depending on what cut you see.

Nightmare Sisters (1988) by David DeCoteau In order to find a way of spicing up the friday night. A group of dateless and dorky sorority sisters, decides to turn their luck with a little "help" by some black magic, when they invite a few desperate frat boys into their home and ends up having a seance , which in return transform the "innocent" females, into a bunch of sex crazed demons! The main reason, to why I did purchase the Blu-ray of The "Best" of 80's Scream Queens (2018), was because I have been wanting to give Nightmare Sisters a go, since, well "forever". Okay, probably most because of my love for Linnea Quigley, and that I really enjoyed her in Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama. Sadly, for me, Nigthmare Sisters, for all the "potential" and "fun" it could have been, it ended up as a pretty damn bad ride. The opening scene was the first hint, to what I was gonna end up with. The first scene is just a terrible attempt on "comedy". And to make it even worse, it just go on and on and on, for 8-10 minutes, which feels like a small lifetime, of hearing the same boring and unfunny "joke", all over again. Then next up, the three main ladies sit around on a coach, chatting away for another 10 minutes of total boredom, and yeah, I guess my expectations were pretty much "killed off", right there and then. Having just learned that this film was pretty much made on the "left overs" from the far superior Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama that same year, and less than 4 days of filming. I guess that is a big reason to why it felt so cheaply and trashy made, as Sorority Babes was a fun filled and fast paced adventure, that also delivered in the sleaze and cheese department, but never became boring or annoying, which sadly Nightmare Sisters is too much dominated by, and even for all the sexy and stunning topless scenes and soft porn style that arrives about 40 minutes into this crappy film, it does not make up for how bad the rest of it really is. I had such good plans of watching all three DeCoteau/Quigley films last night, but my interest were done within a few minutes into this complete mess, and I had to skip forward, fast, the last 10-15 minutes with my remote control, as I could just not take anymore of this "comedy". The positive things that I got in return, was that I kind of enjoyed for a short while, seeing the three lovely main ladies deliver a bit of different acting parts, and even if they were dressed up as "less attractive", with the laughable fat-suit (Michelle Bauer), geeky glasses (Brinke Stevens) and hillbilly buckteeth (Linnea Quigley), somehow it just made them even more cute, especially Linnea, who also delivers a pretty catchy rock tune a bit into the second part of the film. Of course, since it is a Linnea Quigley b-movie, there is gonna be some shower/bathroom scene, and since she is a very clean woman, there is a lot of scrubbing and washing going on, and yeah. I guess it was part of her contract to at least show up nude, and do a few of those scenes, in most of her films back then. Not that I am complaining. Another impressive detail, is how great the sound and picture quality is of this 88 Films UK release, and I might just try to check out some of the other titles in a few days, but from what I gather, they are more b-movies/late night thrillers, where Linnea have a smaller role, than what she got in Nightmare Sisters. All in all, this just was not my kind of b-movie. Too slow paced and unfunny, and even though there is lots of cheese and sleaze, it is without any of the fun and loveable charm of what made me enjoy Sorority Sisters in the Slimeball Bawl-O-Rama, and I will most likely never waste my time on this film ever again, well, beside a certain kitchen/cake scene and bathtub/shower scene. The only reason I do not end up lower with my rating, is because of the three female stars, but if they had run around topless/nude for the entire run, it would still not cover up how lousy and poor this film turned out to be. 3/10

Murder Weapon (1989) by David DeCoteau Another downer, from the "Best" of the 80s Scream Queens, and where Linnea Quigley and her female co-workers once again is taking lots of showers and baths, along with the usual topless part, here and there, throw in a few over-the-top sex scenes as well, and the rest of this mess of a "plot" is as slow paced and boring as the one I saw last night.
I really tried, but the first few minutes went on and on, and again, the pace is just painfully slow moving and even if the lovely Brinke Stevens and Michelle Bauer shows up, and we get a lot of Quigley as well, it is just not good enough to make up for how badly this film was.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Eric Freeman, the crazy eyebrow santa-killer shouting off "GARBAGE DAY!" in the Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, is actually in this one, and has surprisingly large part, but is no where as fun or campy as in his epic film role mentioned above. There are a few decent and well done kills, but again one of those I was very tempted to just turn off, and try to watch the rest of it, next day, but yeah, one more to go from this pretty lame 88 Films release, but it has to be a good or at least better made one title, if not, this will just go where it belongs, straight into the garbage bin.
Again, the picture and sound quality is very good, but it makes me kind of angry, seeing that turds like Murder Weapon and Nightmare Sisters gets such a fine treatment, while so many other 80s and early 90s titles, far superior films, still have not gotten a decent or similar Blu-ray release, yet.
3/10

Hunter Hunter (2020) A family living in the wilderness are threatened by a rogue wolf. The father tries to track it, and then things get darker. Has the biggest "what the fuck" ending I've seen in years.
That's two wolf "related" films this year that seem to come out of nowhere, and rank some of my 2020 faves - this and The Wolf Of Snow Creek

Deadly Embrace (1989) by David DeCoteau The last of the bunch, which were supposedly the very "best" of what director DeCoteau (here under the name of Ellen Cabot) could come up with, along with his three favorite scream queen babes, Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens and Michelle Bauer. Sadly, this 3-movie set was a complete waste of time and money, for my part, that is. I mean, I did not expect greatness, but knowing how much I enjoyed watching DeCoteau's Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama, earlier this fall, I guess it was too good to come true, that these trashy video-titles would even come close. Of course, the time, budget and "plot" were done, probably within less than a few days, and it really shows, far too often.
Anyway, the third and thankfully, final release of the bunch, is trying to play out as an erotic-thriller, where they have landed former Airwolf star, Jan-Michael Vincent, who shows up, and is in the film for a few minutes (or less), mostly sitting on his ass, in some office talking on the phone, or to his sexy female assistent. The "story" is not much to write about, but again, there is lots of T&As scenes going on, specially from Bauer and Linnea, and at times it acts out like more of a cheap soft porn flick, than a thriller.
This one have a bit more pacy tempo, but even here, the scenes are very long and boring, and I almost fell a sleep three-four times, and yeah, this is only for those who must see everything these babes did back in the 80s, and also, again, the picture and sound quality is very good, but it does not help out much, as the films are as bad and slow moving as what I ended up with.
Stay away if you expect charming, fun and entertaining b-movies. Enter at your own risk, if you enjoy bottom of the barrell sleaze and cheese, where the pace and "plot" goes nowhere.
I give this one a 3,5/10, but the whole movie set is lying around 3/10 in total.
