Watched Jigsaw (2017) last night. It was good to revisit the Saw series, although the gore was a little toned down and some of the intensity too. I will say though, I wanted to hurl everytime they showed the dead body that had the top of it's skull sawed off!

I was only able to catch this classic film in the middle of it on the channel RetroPlex . Fortunately there will be another showing of this film on this same channel Monday the 16th of this month of course . It was really good from what I did see of it though . Race with the Devil (1975) A Peter Fonda movie without drugs seems wrong. I don't understand what you mean here poelzig .

I most definitely will Dramatic Look Gopher and I'm really looking forward to this one also . What I did watch of the film this morning it seemed very action packed and intense - especially the ending . I actually missed the first half hour of it . So I really want to catch this one in it's entirety for sure . Thanks so much for your reply .

Psycho II (1983) 7/10 Ending gave it an extra point. I just rewatched this one and enjoyed seeing it after so many years. My rating: 8/10

This morning I viewed Demon Wind (1990), a harmless ripoff of The Evil Dead (1981). It has a few moments, some bad acting though. Notable for a cameo appearance by Lou Diamond Phillips as a demon.

The Untamed (2016) aka La Regien Salvaje, FTV 7/10. Couple keep tentacle monster in remote home, which people become sexually addicted to. Sounds like it could be silly, but it's not. Spanish with subs, on HBO GO.
First Men in the Moon (1964) 6/10. Thought I had seen this before but wasn't familiar at all, so maybe not. Second half was better than the first half.

Got through watching about an hour ago on RETROPLEX " Race with the Devil " from 1975 - really good classic film . There is also another showing of it today at 4:34PM ( Eastern time ) . Now watching on this same channel another 1970's classic I never tire of and still just as creepy after all these years too . This one will be on again at 8PM tonight too ( Eastern time ) . Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978 film)

Watched a couple solid horror shorts. “The Birch” felt like a trailer, but it had an excellent monster design. The “Launder Man” was nicely done in its build-up with a humorous final shot. “Larry” is a longer short, and creepily executed in delivering its killer blow. These are some really excellent yet effective horror shorts here . Thanks so much for sharing these here also lostinlimbo .

I watched "Friday the 13th Part 2" on the 13th. One of my top entries in the franchise, along with "A New Beginning" and "The Final Chapter". Great pacing, and a truly creepy feel overall. The kills are solid, if not as completely satisfying as they could be.

I can only go as fast as humanly possible it's really Retroplex's call when it will be shown and was by luck I found it in the first place . As for the Devil he doesn't scare me and will never be faster than God .

"Fangs of the Living Dead" a.k.a. "Malenka: The Niece of the Vampire" (1969)
Well made but overly familiar vampire tale from Spanish horror specialist Amando de Ossorio. I like it, but I feel that the director didn't really hit his stride until his horror films of the 1970s.

“Maximum Overdrive” was one of those films I would always pass by, showing little interest until today. Gee, what did I just watch?! The opening half-hour is insane, entertainingly insane!!! Stephen King lines it up with dark humour, and outrageous stunts. It’s pure chaotic madness! I admit, I didn’t find the second half to be as impressive, but still, there are enough bug-eyed decisions. Also you can’t go wrong with an AC/DC soundtrack.

Beyond the Gates (2016)
Watched it this weekend and while it was maybe not all what I had hoped it would be, I still thought it was a mostly well done horror b-movie which starts up promisingly but somehow over the next 40-50 (or more) minutes it soon ends up getting a little too slow and even though it only last for about 75 minutes, I ended up losing interest and had to watch the last of it the next day. To my defense, it was very late and I had already seen 3 movies earlier that day. The special effects were a neat surprise, the acting not bad and the locations was also a good way to build up a nice little atmosphere of nostalgia. Barbara Crampton is the only one I know of the cast, but has very little to work on here, still it is cool that she has done a few horror films in recent years.
The best thing about the film was surely how nostalgic the VHS store made me feel. Damn, I miss my local Video Rental shop which I loved visiting, even when not actually renting anything, just browsing around and remember so well the smell of candy, ice cream and old VHS tapes. Also they used to have a very solid horror collection and every week I noticed or stumbled upon a new movie I had never seen there before. Sadly, around 2002-03 it went all downhill and fast. They tried to pass out DVDs as the same way as the VHS but they were always full of cracks and would half the time not play, and one would often wonder what the hell some people did to the films.
Anyway, I went in probably with too big of a expectation, and well it was mostly a decent movie, kind of a mix-up of Jumanjii and Videodrome or something not that far off but the pace could have been a little better at times, still I ended up with a "favorable" rating:
5,5/10

"The Loreley's Grasp"
Very atmospheric offering from Amando de Ossorio, a mixture of tacky gore, a cheesy rubber monster suit, romance, decent acting, and an eclectic soundtrack. Based on a German myth / legend, it has the appeal of a fairy tale type of story.
